Challenges for Air Force

Army has finally gotten their man in Jeff Monken. After a slow start, Monken is now 30-28 coaching Army. Since the start of the 2017 season, the Cadets have won 16 of their last 21 games for an impressive .762 winning percentage. During Monken’s reign Army has mostly gotten it done running the ball. However, this 2018 team has been able to pass too with over 700 yards and six TDs coming through the air. Army’s defense is a big reason for its success as well. The BKs are especially tough defending the run. Both Army and Air Force know how to stop the option because they both run it. Air Force can win this game but will need to limit turnovers to one or none and be successful in the red zone.

Challenges for Army

Air Force has dominated their series with Army. Since 1979 the Black Knights are just 8-31 versus the Falcons. The Blacks have not won back to back games with the Falcons since 1978. A win over the Falcons would serve notice that last year’s 21-0 victory was not just a case of a blind squirrel finding a nut. The Black Knights can’t afford to get caught up in the excitement of being that team that gets a win streak going against the Falcons. They need to take the game 6-seconds at a time and defend their home turf.

Saturday’s game kicks off at Noon ET and can be seen on the CBS Sports Network.
