As of October 14, Jerry Palm of CBS projects only 72 bowl eligible teams for 78 slots, a "remarkably low" number. This would enable as many as SIX 5 win teams.

The takeaway is that there will be more openings to higher level bowl games than ever. Palm has the Belk Bowl in Charlotte going outside of its ties - that's a $1.7MM purse in an NFL stadium, attracting big programs. Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, and Georgia have played there recently.

Given the high profile of the game and Army's grasp on the Charlotte area recruiting ground, this would be by FAR the best option - and realistic too.

If we can win 7, we will be in a pretty good bowl and that bowl should provide Army with a decent guarantee.

I feel sorry for a P5 team coming off a "disappointing" 6 or 7 win season and then drawing a 8-10 win Army team in a bowl.
