Would Monken leave even Army for Navy?

They should absolutely NOT go after Monken, but there are many other staff changes that should probably be made.

What drunkenness or insanity prompted this line of thought?

I don't think it's so outrageous. He spent years at Navy. Knows Annapolis well. For Navy, if they have to make a change it would make sense to go after Army's coach. I know Army folks would roll their eyes at the idea but it might make sense. If Monken goes 12-0 at Army next year would they be in the playoff? No, they wouldn't. They'd be in the top 15 or so but no playoff due to their scheduling. If Navy goes 13-0 in the American there will at least be more of an argument for them to make the playoff due to a strong strength of schedule. All that said, I don't see Monken going anywhere anytime soon. He absolutely loves West Point and his players.

Going undefeated in the American does not give you a strong strength of schedule relative to competitive playoff teams. UCF went undefeated two years in a row and didn't even get a sniff. The AAC wasn't even better than the MW this past year. UCF and a bunch of also-rans, who once again didn't show up to play in bowl season.
