2023 vs 2022 Season

Post by Dong Fong '09 »

Want to start off by saying that I'm looking forward to more changes and improvements offensively this off season.

As a reminder, it wasn't like we were an offensive juggernaut last year and then Coach Monken randomly decided to fire Brent Davis and pivot to a gun offense.

In 2022, we had ZERO good wins. We beat Villanova, Colgate, ULM, UCONN, UMASS, and Navy (after scoring ZERO offensive touchdowns in regulation).

In 2023, We beat Del State (bad team), UTSA (good team), Air Force (good team), Holy Cross (decent), Coastal Carolina (good team), Navy (bad team but our rival). We gave away 2 games in my opinion (BC and ULM) with a horribly timed fumble and a ridiculous attempt at a lateral. The UMASS game was the low point of the season, and we likely win that game if we had started Daily at QB (not sure why he rode the bench the first several possessions)

I know a lot goes into winning a football game, but our record is the exact same as last year, except this year we won the CIC, including stomping Air Force on the road.

Waiting for the: no no no. You see, we dont want to run the under center option that runs bad plays. We want the under center option that runs good plays

We should also watch that video again that shows why AF and Navy are much better than us and our coaches dont know how to coach. And then we beat both of them

Agree with Dong Fong. We had some deep valleys this year, but also some promising peaks. JM clearly understands the issues on offense and articulated them during his post-game press conference after beating Navy. If this team is learning how to win and we make appropriate adjustments to the offense, next year could be special.
