Challenges for Navy

Holy Cross finished the 2018 season with a 5-6 (4-2 Patriot) record. They’ve got 11 starters back, just 4 of those are on defense. On offense, Holy Cross loses their starting QB and 3 starting WRs from a year ago. That could be a problem. The rest of the offensive starters return. On defense, the Crusaders return a defensive lineman and three defensive backs. RB Domenic Cozier is perhaps the best player on offense. He ran for over 600 yards last season. Linebacker Joe Lang is the top returning defensive player, tackle wise, with 77 stops last season.

The challenge for Navy is to just play Navy football. Don’t try to be Oregon or Alabama, just be Navy. Option left, option right and up the middle. Burn them with the pass occasionally. Navy should win this game and being 1-0 will probably help them get the ball rolling and leave the miserable 2018 season as a distant memory.

Saturday’s game kicks off at 3:30 pm ET. Watch on the CBS Sports network.
