Army Football Three Keys: Rice

Army Football Three Keys

The Army Black Knights host Rice on Friday at Michie Stadium. Here are your three keys to an Army victory over the Owls.

Key 1 – Kelvin Hopkins Shines

Army quarterback Kelvin Hopkins is a player that needs to play well for the Black Knights for Army to be successful. Hopkins is a senior and what really makes him special is his ability to both pass and run. Last season Hopkins had an impressive over 1,017 yards rushing and 1,026 yards passing. His presence in the game keeps opponents from keying in on Army’s stellar running game.

Key 2 – Get After Green

Rice had a very rough season last year, finishing 2-11. The Owls have a new starting quarterback in Wiley Green this season. Green passed for over 600 yards last season in a backup role. Green has a fine target in Owl receiver Austin Trammell who caught over 60 passes a year ago. That makes it even more important to keep the pressure on Green.

Key 3 – Keep It Rolling Along

What an amazing 3-season run it’s been for the Army Nation. Especially after the 13 or so horrendous years of football prior to this run. Army just needs to keep on doing what they’ve been doing. Play hard, play smart and take each game one at a time.
