Air Force Football Three Keys: Boise State

Three keys Air Force

Air force football visits Boise State on Friday night in Boise, ID. Here are your three keys to an Air Force win over Boise State.

Key 1 – Pass defense stays stellar

Boise State averages 343.3 yards a game passing. Through two games the Falcons pass defense has stymied opponent’s passing attacks. That needs to continue in order for Air Force to win at Boise State. The Falcons are No. 1 in the MWC and No. 16 nationally in pass defense. It should be noted also that this isn’t a case of opponents not passing on the Falcons because of a poor Falcon rushing defense. The Falcon’s run defense is strong as well (27th nationally).

Key 2 – Win the turnover battle

This may seem like an obvious key but keep in mind that the Broncos are 3-0 despite having a poor turnover margin (-0.50). Even though the Falcons are doing a lot of things well so far this season, they have a worse turnover margin at -0.67 than the Broncos. If the Falcons lose the turnover battle in this game they’ll likely lose the game. The bolt brotherhood defense needs to gain turnovers while the offense avoids turnovers.

Key 3 – Non-stars step up

It would be easy to list certain key players for Air Force that need to have big games. Yes, those players do need to produce. However, to win a big game like this on the road against a very good opponent, it’s essential that players whose names aren’t called as often step up and make game-changing plays. Who will answer that call?

Friday’s game kicks off at 7:00 MT. Watch on the ESPN2 Network.
