I would think that If one of Army or Navy wins the AAC and beats Notre Dame, they'll still have a pretty good shot at being ahead of Boise State.
If Army or Navy were to run the table, which would be a monumental task, and probably
would be the greatest season in both schools history. I guarantee they would jump over
Boise State.
I hope so, but I don’t think it will be a no brainer. Boise State is currently ranked ahead of Army NOW and their only loss is to (currently) #3 and undefeated Oregon by 3 points on a last-second field goal. Norte Dame is (currently) #11 with one loss. If Army or Navy beats them, they will stay out of the top 10 and might be closer to #20. If Oregon loses a couple or Boise State loses again, then I think an unbeaten Army team gets in easily.
The reason to me it would be a no brainer, if Army or Navy run the table, and Boise goes 11-1.
Press coverage would be crazy, of an Academy school 12-0 and would have beaten N.D.
The story line would be so dominating in college football and such an American underdog story.
How could the committee (I see Chet is one of them) deny Army or Navy.
Yes, this is a dream scenario, but it's fun to discuss while it still exist.

Some interesting possible scenarios. An additional one maybe a little less unlikely:

Neither Army or Navy beats ND but both play in the AAC title game. The two teams split the AAC game and the Army-Navy in December. Do they agree to a rubber match in one of the lower tier bowls or does the winner of the CIC trophy consider the matter to be already settled?

One thing to consider. If Army could run the table they will have at least 2 quality wins. They will have ND and whomever they face in the AAC. That could be Navy, but also could be Tulane, which would be a solid win. On the downside, we also get hurt by the Army Navy game not counting, as a Navy + Tulane wins would be a stronger case.

Fun for us fans to talk about this stuff…but there is a whole lot of football left to be played. Gotta win Saturday…North Texas looks like a good team so that will be a challenge on the road. Can’t afford to overlook anyone, that’s for sure!

I hope A and N end up in the championship game and it forces the AAC and both schools to relook the ridiculous situation with the game not being a conference game and being after the championship game. If either A or N or both end up in the AAC championship game with a shot at a playoff invite…that’s a tough 3 game slog: AAC Championship, A-N game for the CinC trophy…and then a playoff game. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions with 3 games like that in back-to-back weeks.

But, first things first: gotta beat UAB! Hope none of the players are thinking about anything other than Saturday!

I kind of hope if they end up with 9 or 10 wins, so outside of the playoff discussion, but still a phenomenal season, that they end up in maybe a “higher” Bowl game than they usually play in. I have a feeling they’ll just end up getting sent to the Armed Forces Bowl again since it’s a Service Academy, and I get it, but something a little different would be nice

With no disrespect intended to those in the Dallas/Fort Worth area-------I'm just tired of heading that way for a bowl game. Somewhere different, please. (Okay-----so maybe somewhere different that I get to choose)

Making A-N a conference game would be a disaster for the game and the finances. You would have to play it sometime earlier in the season. If you want to keep it on a stand alone weekend, which has been a boon to the ratings and the $$, you can't make it a conference game. Back to back A-N games would be a disaster too, but it is still unlikely this year and most years.

The A-N game would lose some things if it moved to a conference game, but I’m not sure it would be a disaster. They could always play it on “Rivalry Weekend” as the last game of the season. I’m sure the TV folks could figure out how to maximize revenues and viewership in how they slot the game that day.

Moving it to a conference game would virtually eliminate the silliness of playing two weeks in a row. It would also open up another non-conference game that could be scheduled each year.
