Current mask policy at West Point?

Post by ArmyRoadFan7 »

Is this the current mask policy on post? If so hard to imagine they won’t be required at football games.

USAG West Point and the U.S. Military Academy require cloth face coverings in public settings where social distancing is difficult to maintain, in accordance with Department of Defense and Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. All military personnel, family members, civilian employees, contractors and visitors must wear cloth face coverings on academy grounds to the extent practical when they cannot maintain six feet of social distance in public areas or work centers. More information about Force Health Protection Measures can be found.

That is old. Vaccinated not required to wear a mask. But at the rate the current push for manufactured hysteria is building, it is certainly not out of the question that policies will revert back to stupid in the coming weeks.

Time to revisit this topic, unfortunately. The COVID fear porn hysteria has returned to government facilities as of the past couple days. Redstone Arsenal is now requiring masks again "regardless of vaccination status." The stupid, it burns.

I can only imagine the stupid has returned to West Point as well. It would come as no surprise to me for an announcement to come soon that cancels my upcoming Sprint Football reunion (and all other on-campus Alumni events). This would be followed by the ultimate stupid - restricting or banning fan attendance again at Michie Stadium. Last year this type of stupid cost tens of millions of dollars to Army Athletics. It was put to the Alumni to donate even more to help overcome the shortfall. I ponied up on my already generous annual donations because maybe I could understand what happened last season. But if stupid prevails for ANOTHER season and the fans are turned away, Michie left to Cadets only in attendance, and another huge loss of revenue follows I WILL NOT subsidize stupid for a second season. I believe my sentiment on this topic is shared by the vast majority of Alumni who faithfully donate every year.

Mess with our Army Football experience again and everybody loses. Army Athletics is left bankrupt. Monken walks. There is no budget left to hire a viable replacement. The team slides back into oblivion.

This isn't about "safety" anymore and, IMO, it never was. At this point it should be obvious this is purely theater hysteria and optics that, once added together, equals stupid. Let's hope stupid does not prevail but, from the looks of it, we're about to see another self-inflicted disaster of stupid befall Army Athletics.

Yep. I have my 20 year reunion in about 6 weeks and am waiting on booking flights and hotels, because I don't trust Biden, his handlers, and Blue State governors on this one. It sucks, but its what we are dealing with now. This is about the time last year our local Texas ISDs all were able to push for delayed school openings and openings solely virtual. I expect a similar push from teachers in the next week or so.

Hopefully vaccination proof is required for entry.

My fear is that the lack of progress in the vaccination rate will see the AN game at less than 100% capacity. Hopefully people around the country get smart, this exercise is getting tiresome

Get smart?

I agree. Our leaders should follow the science and trust the data on the virus which has little to no impact on the vast majority of people who aren't old or have pre-existing complications. Instead we are trying to force everyone to be jabbed with a rushed vaccination.

There was a way to avoid this, but folks who most loudly proclaimed that they were "Patriots" didn't do their civic duty and get vaccinated.

Go 150’s 87, Agree with everything you wrote, but It wouldn’t be Army Athletics making any decisions. It’s Milley and the woke DOD, starting with the SecDef. My wife went to the Millington, Tn Navy Commissary this morning at 0800 and was told she had to wear a mask in the Commissary now. Biden probably wasn’t even out of bed yet - so this was all set in motion yesterday. I can’t believe my Beast roommate and Class President made Milley an honorary Member of our class at our 35th reunion during halftime of the Wake Forest game in 2015. We missed our 40th last year, of course. After the quotes I saw from Milley this past week, he’s just a woke political hack.
