Re: NEW Details - Spring Break Coke Incident
The prosecution provided the defense discovery on May 26th, 2022. The filed document contains an image of the contents of a mailed flash drive (discovery contents) - the contents themselves are not available.
1) The drug dealer text exchange (included on the flashdrive) was with someone identified as "Boone" - previously ID as 'Victim1' AKA 'Tampa2'.
2) The government also included numerous photos, recordings, and scanned documents.
“The PDF labeled “Scanned Documents” consists of sixty (60) pages while the PDF labeled “Scanned Documents 2” consists of one hundred and five (105) pages. The “Photographs” folder contains eighty-five (85) photographs. The “Recorded Statements” folder contains eleven (11) recordings. The password is “Discovery2022!” In addition to the flashdrive, the government sent two DEA reports and a receipt via email on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.”

Until there is a witness list, I'm not sure there is much here to worry over.

This topic is for people who want to read legal updates associated with West Point cadets (allegedly Army football players) OD'ing on fentanyl-laced cocaine.2mint wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 10:30 pmAre you an aspiring cable news reporter or what? You mean “football player” right. Haven’t heard a single
report alleging multiple players. Of course, solve your own riddle and you can ID victim #1 and he was not an active member of the team.

Re: NEW Details - Spring Break Coke Incident
I think this is an interesting point. To be clear, I have no idea, with certainty, who "Boone" is. However, if this person, as you suggest, is a former member of the FB team, should the media dismiss this aspect when reporting?

Re: NEW Details - Spring Break Coke Incident
Yesterday, Judge granted an unopposed protective order on discovery materials from the DA.
The granted request goes on to state:Protective Order for appropriate protections against widespread dissemination of the
discovery materials and the sensitive information contained therein, which will be disclosed in the
above-captioned matter.
In the granting the order- Judge stipulates conditions of strict confidence / sharing of materials, concluding:The discovery in this case involves the name and personal identifiers of the two identified victims, as well as witnesses and other individuals who suffered from injuries resulting from the consumption of fentanyl. In an attempt to protect this sensitive information in the discovery materials, the United States proposes the following restrictions on the disclosure and use of the discovery materials in this case:
1. Counsel of record for the defendant shall hold the discovery materials in strict
confidence, disclosing this information to the defendant, office staff, investigators, and witnesses
(including any experts) only to the extent they believe is necessary to assist in the defense of this
matter.
2. Counsel of record for the defendant shall advise any person to whom the discovery
materials are disclosed that, pursuant to the attached Protective Order, the information must be
held in strict confidence and the recipient may not further disclose or disseminate the information.
3. The government will specify what portions of the discovery are confidential/sensitive and therefore covered by the order by marking those pages confidential/sensitive.
4. Counsel of record for the defendant shall obtain a certification from each person to
whom the discovery materials are disclosed, except the defendant, in which the recipient (a)
acknowledges the restrictions set forth in the Protective Order, and (b) agrees that he will not
disclose or disseminate the information without the express consent of defense counsel. Counsel
shall keep a copy of each certification to identify the individuals who received the discovery
materials and the date on which such information was first disclosed.
Defense counsel agrees that, when this case is over, it will destroy (or return to the
Government) the Confidential discovery it received.
