Notre Dame in 2024?
A poster says he heard rumors of Notre Dame-Army in 2024.
Probably nothing but that would be amazing.
We and ND should never have canceled the annual series in 1947.

Great news and agree 100% that this storied rivalry should never have been cancelled.
I'm still in pain over the '95 game where we left it on the 1 yard line with a heroic try for 2 PAT....
Revenge would be sweet.

Re: Notre Dame in 2024?
I am TOTALLY against playing Notre Dame ever again UNTIL, yes UNTIL, they play us at Michie Stadium like they first played us for the first time on the Plain in 1913.
Why?
They STILL owe a return game after we gave them a chance the first time back then to play at West Point and Notre Dame as a result, has been blowing their horn ever since when they won that first game.
Sure, I know they played us once in the modern era , beating us 54-3 at Michie but to me it is about time they play us again at home instead of the lousiest place to play football that be Yankee Stadium where 95% of the fans root for them instead of when the game is considered to be an Army home game to begin with.
No more of that crap. Le em play their ACC teams as both deserve each other.
That rivalry died decades ago and I for one would like it to stay dead. We need Notre Dame as much as I need cancer.
Besides they even have not won a national championship in 35 years yet they still think they are god,s gift to the college football game. They still remain the biggest sham in FBS ball.
I'm still tired by being dumped on us from those Domers.

Re: Notre Dame in 2024?
I recently read a book on the 1958 season and it is depressing to read how much the Academy administration in the 40s and 50s crippled the program with shortsighted edicts. Blaik was able to overcome it but it set the stage for our eventual departure from the national ranks.
You didn't see Navy cancel their Notre Dame series or refuse bowl games. Or Air Force.
Army football: shooting itself in the foot for decades.

True, I am predictable but I do not like Notre Dame sports. The schools fine itself but since the day, Fr. Hesburgh once said the following, "College football needs Notre Dame more than Notre Dame needs college football!" Plus their exclusive contract with NBC to televise only Notre Dame games reeks with pure pomposity. Plus the fans during ww2 called Army players War Dodgers and those years pissed me off. Hell, half of those men were killed in Korea !!
Plus a helluva lot more pluses i could mention here but I will not.
Boring?? I think not because these facts alone bear out my realistic points.

Re: Notre Dame in 2024?
With all the changes occurring in college football the rivalry game may soon be a thing of the past. After seeing the endless parade of MAC squads, directional schools and FCS programs barely filling half the seats at Michie, I think it would be a welcome change to see Army play a traditional rival even if it means settling for a venue like Yankee Stadium or the Meadowlands.
It's been a one-sided rivalry to be sure, but after seeing ND's close shave vs. Navy last year, I don't think another loss to the Irish would be a given. Even with all the bowl victories under his belt, a win vs. ND would the be the signature win for Coach JM at Army.

I'm not sure it is a rivalry if both teams don't routinely have a realistic chance to win. That said, unlike Rab, I acknowledge the sustained level of play in the top 30 or so teams in college football.

Re: Notre Dame in 2024?
This would be great for our program. We need to play more name teams and ND is at the top of the list. As for playing at Michie, Rab, the stadium holds less than 40,000 and it is a logistical nightmare to get into the parking lot on game day if it fills up. Better to host a game at MetLife and bring in some much needed revenue than worry about stuff that happened 80 years ago. I think this is great news.
