Week 1 Depth Chart
Sal just posted the official depth chart
https://x.com/salinterdonato/status/169 ... J0bf8etkQQ
Interesting notes:
We have a set of brothers on the 2-deep in the yearling Fortner brothers.
A plebe starting at center. Don’t know if that has ever happened.
Jakobi Buchanan listed as one of the starting RBs. Didn’t expect to see that.

Re: Week 1 Depth Chart
I hope hope Small has an awesome day at Center. A couple of I interesting/surprising things for me:
o We are going from 3 RBs to 2 and 2 WRs to 3. No surprise, but it looks weird to actually see it.
o I was expecting to see Brett Gerena on the two deep
o I thought we would see Zach Mundell as the QB3
Can’t wait for kickoff! Beat ULM!

Re: Week 1 Depth Chart
Holland was a December grad, ie, 5th year. He did not play at all his 1st or 2nd year. Full time starter year 3,4 5westcoastarmyfan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 7:37 pm FSUBulldog-- didn't Holland start at center for all 4 years?

Re: Week 1 Depth Chart
When I was on campus in the beginning of the year, I chatted up a few people in the know and they stated very matter of fact that the base offense would feature two running backs. I had said that in an earlier post, but our coaching staff has been very ambiguous about personnel groupings to this point. Employing two backs would make sense considering this might be the most stacked position talent wise on the roster.
Could be so many variations with their offensive personnel however. Will it be one true split end in Alston and a slot/wingback like Marshall the way Nebraska employed Johnny Rogers in the early '70s. Or two WR and a TE. I know Marshall is highly thought of by the coaching staff and will be more involved in the passing game this year. The configuration possibilities are intriguing, but so much will depend on the ability of the offensive line to hold the point of attack until plays develop.
Really like this defense. There are playmakers at all three levels, but the defensive line has to be more stout occupying blockers so the back eight can flow to the ball. We got run on far too easily last year. Ciarlo, Lowin, and Jones have a chance to stack some good numbers and our secondary seems pretty strong. Keep an eye out for Larkin. Staff likes him. He had a good spring and summer. Saw the kid play in HS a bit and he was impressive. Really good athlete. Place kicking game seems more buttoned up, but not sure what we will get in the punting game. This is a very seasoned team, but the schedule is a bit of a meat grinder this year. Heck, even UMass looked pretty good last weekend. Can't wait for Saturday.

Re: Week 1 Depth Chart
Holland was awesome but I think this is right. He didn’t start as a plebe. I was told that Holland was the best OL on those teams by far including Toth from one of their fellow OLs.wpgrad wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 8:31 pmHolland was a December grad, ie, 5th year.
