Hopefully making him the highest paid coach in the group of 5 (soon to be group of 6).

Over 2 mill a year with yearly increases
Puts him in 2.5 range which removes most if not all non p5 jobs

Re: Monken signs contract extension
No matter how much money that they pay Coach Monken it's not enough for the job he has done in turning around the Army football program. He's one of the top 10 head coaches in the FBS and deserves to be paid as such. But he probably won't get it at Army.

Re: Monken signs contract extension
Great news!!
Some posters had wondered out loud on the forum if Monken had moved away from the triple option to make himself more attractive as a coaching candidate at other schools. I think this signing squelches that argument. Glad to have him here for the foreseeable future.
A few years back, somebody posted the video of Monken and the team in the locker room after a big victory, either one of the bowl games or a victory over Navy. He was leading them in the chant about "gonna lay me down and bleed awhile..." The enthusiasm and the emotion from both the team and the coach convinced me that WP is where he wants to be. Nice to see him get compensated properly for the job he's done.
Beat Syracuse!!

Re: Monken signs contract extension
The exact quote is one of my favorites:
"I'm a little wounded, but I am not slain; I will lay me down to bleed a while. Then I'll rise and fight again."
- John Dryden (English poet)
Jeff modified it beautifully and uses it frequently. It's also now printed on Army Football t-shirts, among other things...

Good extension, the right guy for the job.
I would like to see more than moral victories now ... hopefully he can beat some teams that we're not supposed to beat (I do note that last weekend was a good start to this!).
... and no losses to teams we should dominate (please do not lose to Yale again).
