ESPN FPI after Week 3

Here’s a link to the ESPN FPI. The FPI is the expected point margin vs. an average FBS team.

Some highlights:

Army: -5.3
Navy: -10.7
AF: -2.1
Syracuse: 15.0
BC: -5.1
Troy: -6.2
LSU: 21.0

These FPI numbers suggest that the point spread vs Syracuse should be 20 points. Our performance against UTSA likely had a big impact on the spread.

If we played these teams this weekend:

Navy: we would be 5 point favorites.

Air Force: would be favored by 3 (probably by 6 since we play there, sorta). FPI ranks AF lower (74) than the CDS rankings (43), probably because of their cake schedule.

BC would be a toss up. Perhaps Army favored since we are at Michie.

Troy: Army by 4

LSU: LSU by a lot.

A win vs ‘Cuse would change these by a bunch.

UTSA was a great win over a very athletic team. They type of team we lost too week after week in the 2000's (albeit without their starting QB).

We'll find out what type of team we are this week.
