This is not good...
So just to wrap my mind around our production.
So far, halftime of the Troy game, we've played 11 halves of football. 5 of those halves have produced 1 score or less. Two halves with no points, two halves with 3 points, and one half with 6 points.
The good news is we play 1-6 UMASS in two weeks. The bad news is we have to play at night in Baton Rouge next week and against Air Force on the Road the following week. But don't worry we get an FCS Holy Cross the week after that and they are pretty good and almost beat Boston College.
Obviously Monken not happy at half. But the horrible part is the offense is moving backwards at this point.
Awful.

Monken's default mode is anger. But he should be mad at himself. Air Force kept the traditional offense and they are rolling. The new rules aren't ideal but they are not instant option killers.

Re: This is not good...
It’s is pure naïveté for army fans to so quickly forget how we built good seasons these last 5-7 years
Hint—it wasn’t by playing bc, Syracuse, lsu, Troy in the same month
Remember this as you pound your chest wanting army to join the AAC

Re: This is not good...
Navy has several seasons of 8-10 win seasons when they would play 4-5 P5 opponents (several were ranked and were defeated) and several quality G5 teams in a year. Meanwhile, we haven't beaten an AP-ranked team in decades.
Air Force has been successful in a conference.
If we want to play FCS opponents all the time, drop down to the Patriot League.
I want no part of the AAC, but our rivals have been successful against difficult schedules. We can do the same.

In the last 5 years navy has won 3,3,4,4 games (and the magical malcolm perry year). And sucked so bad their coach got fired. I dont really care that 8 or 10 years ago, when current players were in 4th grade, navy was goodOliphant wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 9:50 am Navy has several seasons of 8-10 win seasons when they would play 4-5 P5 opponents (several were ranked and were defeated) and several quality G5 teams in a year. When it comes to football, Air Force has alot more in common with boise state and fresno than Army. Its two completely different programs and mindsets. Always has been, always will be

You can’t just completely dismiss Navy’s success because it doesn’t fit your narrative.

Football has changed SO much since even 2015. NIL, portal, etc. being good in 2016 means zero in 2023
