For anyone who cares about evaluating our offensive statistics I believe 3rd down efficiency tells the story this year more than any other:
Army ranks 112th in 3rd Down Efficiency at 33%
Here are the top 10 in order currently:
Team 3rd Down Record
Air Force 59% 6-0
LSU 58% 5-2
Georgia 57% 7-0
Michigan 55% 7-0
UNLV 54% 5-1
Oregon 54% 5-1
Kansas 53%. 5-2
North Carolina 53% 6-0
Toledo 53% 6-1
Oklahoma 52% 6-0
The good news is even Navy is worse than we are. But bottom line is that good teams offensively convert and move the sticks. This offense produces too many negative plays and zero yardage gains to be effective. Love or hate the old offense and play calling, and I'm not saying it was executed well the last few years, but even amongst poor execution we were more competitive and more efficient. Just one of many statistics we can point to that demonstrate poor scheme and poor execution. It's on the coaches without a doubt. Just reinforcing how bad this is.
