Back in the day, LSU Coach Paul Dietzel left his job to take the Army head job in 1962…can’t picture anyone leaving a Power 5 job for Army today…
After five seasons Dietzel left for South Carolina where he pulled the Gamecocks out of the ACC into years of independent football until they joined the SEC in the early ‘90’s…
The looming shadow of Viet Nam started to effect Army recruiting and no doubt led to Dietzel’s departure
