Army is regressing not progressing

This team is worse today than when the season began. More sloppy, less effective...on all sides of the ball.

This looks like the worst team Monken has ever fielded at Army...even in year #1, I'm struggling to recall ever looking this inept in all phases of the game?

I feel badly for the punter, but that kid is a headcase at this point. Get him to the performance center and turn punting duties over to someone else for the remainder of this season. He needs some time and distance to get himself straightened out mentally before coming back and trying to punt again in a game situation.

We don't have a QB. Daily is a great power runner, but he can't throw...and that's supposed to be a part of this offense now. Harris has an arm at least...but can't run. Neither of them are good decision-makers.

Defense can't stop the run...and can't stop the pass. Bad combination. Not to mention they can't generate much pressure on the QB either.

The team needs a shakeup...something. Anything.

I really hate to pile on, but watching Army football was something I looked forward to the last 6 or 7 years. Now I just get disappointed. My wife is ready to re-institute ban on watching Army.

And that is on the Head Coach.

Monken seemed strangely detached, imho, early in the season. Not really disturbed or concerned by the unnecessary loss to ULM, or the successive losses to Syracuse, BC, and Troy. Always had a smile. Always effusively complimented the opposing coach and players. Even the utter ROUT vs LSU didn't rise his ire. To many of us, it was a humiliating, hurtful, beat-down, but again, he smiled and went on...

Sorry, cause I love the guy, but JM is either blind to what is happening, or living in a dreamland. This dumpster fire of a season is his fault, because it is again, a Total Systems Failure. O line is 100% ineffective, coached by an unqualified man. The OC has installed a wholly inappropriate and ineffective system, which relies on talent we don't have. He's also a shitty play-caller. The Defense is utterly porous. Every team gashes us. Woody never adjusts. They run the same plays for big yards time after time. And "Special" teams, good God, what a disaster. Punter is a head case. Can't punt; otherwise, fine. Oh yeah, can't get off a throw either on a fake punt when multiple receivers are WIDE open.

Gotta end with the players. They are the unfortunate recipients of this suddenly horrendous coaching staff, but sorry, I don't see their hair on fire when they play either. Not a lick. Who's fault? Again, HC, along with captains.

I'm embarrassed to be an Army fan. This team is likely going to finish 2 and 10, ranked dead LAST in the 125 FBS teams. And I don't see the urgency, I don't see the adjustments, I don't see the commitment, and mostly, I don't see the absolute REQUIREMENT to make major changes. I hope to the football gods that I interpreted the post-game presser wrong, but what I heard was something like, "I know this can work. It worked vs UTSA, and for a half vs Syracuse and BC....It can work. etc, etc, etfreakingcetera".

NO JEFF, IT WON'T WORK. PLEASE SEE THE LIGHT. DON'T BE BLIND. DON'T BE IN DENIAL.

The ship is sinking, fast. You're gonna be hammered by air force, who will run an under-center offense down your throat and who will stuff your stupid, ill-conceived offense dead in its tracks, as eveyone else has. Then, to top it off, there will be no "Miracle" game-winning punt block vs the squids this year, unless it's them doing the blocking, so we'll likely lose that one too.

I'm neither a "Sunshine Pumper" nor a "Debbie Downer" and I'll bleed Army football until I die. That said, I never imagined that a Jeff Monken-coached team could be such a complete cluster eff in every aspect of the game. I'll just leave it at that for now.

A complete and total embarrassment. This team, and the academy, isn’t getting any more of my money until we show something positive.

Until then, I’m embarrassed to mention Army football at all.

While this is clearly on the coaching staff, there were multiple times throughout the game where the players just repeatedly failed to execute.

1. Overthrown passes to wide open receivers
2. The debacle known as our kicking game
3. Dropped balls
4. Blown assignments on defense
5. Failing to wrap on tackles
6. Bad pitches/exchanges

Watch the 2 point conversion. The defensive back had one job - stay with the receiver - and instead he cheated up to make a play when we had 3 other defenders in position to stop the run, leaving the receiver wide open in the corner of the end zone for an easy pass and catch (which we probably would’ve overthrown). Is that on the coaches? Ultimately, yes, but players have to make plays.
