"Chesnut just completed his first season with Navy as the OC and offensive line coach. He had previously been in the same role at Kennesaw State since 2014.
Navy finished the 2023 season with a 5-7 overall record and a 4-4 record in the AAC. The Midshipmen averaged 17.7 points per game, just 0.4 points more than the league-worst East Carolina Pirates. Navy were also second-worst in the league in total offense with 300.3 yards per game. Navy reached the red zone a league-worst 29 times, scoring points on just 20 trips, with 14 touchdowns."

Wow! After just one year. Wonder if Chet had anything to do with it - he likes to fire OCs and HCs (got a 2 for last year).

Dumpster fire at Navy. OL coach was also key recruiter. He’s gone. Now the OC is gone.
Love to see it. I hope they go on their own long run of berry/ross/brock/ellerson

If you fire your OC after one year it says more about the AD than the OC

Isn't our present OC co-ordinator a former coach at the same school? If so what does that tell you about their program? I just continue to vision a repeat of the early 90's

Re: Squids fire O Coordinator
Their AD didn't hire the offensive coordinator. The head coach did.
if it says anything, it says the HC didn't do his due diligence in finding out about the coach, which is slightly weird since the OC and the HC both coached together at Kennesaw for years.

Re: Squids fire O Coordinator
This situation smells a lot like when Chet fired Jasper as OC and KN got him back as QB coach. Perhaps Newberry did not have the tenure/balls to keep the current OC when pressured. Hard to think that Newberry didn’t know what he was getting with the OC given their history. And after 1 year.
At any rate it is an awesome dumpster fire to watch.

Navy’s offense is completely dependent on having a great quarterback. They are so used to having guys like Dobbs, Reynolds and Perry that they can’t do anything without a top tier guy.
