Does anybody know what USMA is doing for the 30 Nov home game vs. UTSA? That weekend has traditionally been a holiday for the Corps for Thanksgiving. Would hate to see the stands empty of cadets for a potentially epic game to clinch a birth in the AAC championship game. Did they alter the fall schedule to keep the Corps at West Point for Thanksgiving but perhaps end the semester earlier in December or start 2nd semester later in January to give them those extra holidays back?
Thinking about the importance of the North Texas game for Army and winning the AAC, wondering how Monken handled the off week? Having 2 weeks to prepare for Air Force is always nice...and you don't want to overlook them by any means. But, I wonder if they used any of the practice time last week to add a few days of prep for North Texas into the mix?

NO. Guarantee you they did NOT. Monken's mindset is ALWAYS 1 and 0. That's one of the many reasons he's been so successful. He rightly does not look beyond every week's opponent, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S A CIC GAME.
This week is one half of a successful season, and Jeff knows it. He, Daily and the other leaders will make certain the team does also.

Re: Couple of Stray Electrons
This season reminds me of those Glory Years of Army Football back in the 1940's and 1950's. I remember those years with fondness as a young lad and after so many years of disappointment and some very good ones intermixed, it is most refreshing to witness a little bit of the great past once again. I never thought Army would turn this program around as much as it has. Thanks to all for giving this old guy a chance to have another story book season.
Another unbeaten regular season? Probably not as Notre Dae stands in the way. To tell you the truth, I wish we had scheduled another team that we might be able to handle but no, Notre Dame always seems to stand in the way like it has done to Navy so many times in history and to us too. It is the unquenchable scent of money that will get you. To me, this desire always gets to me and it won't change either. Doggone it!

I think it may be a bit more complicated than that. Yes...focus on the next team and win that game. But not to the potential detriment of attaining other goals for the season. Winning the CinC is #1. Winning the AAC is #2. Look back at the Lehigh game plan on offense and defense and tell me you don't think Monken made some calculated decisions on scheme and play calls to keep it conservative and avoid putting too much on game film too early in the season.ARMORMAN wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 4:40 pm NO. Allocating some time during an off week to getting ready for NT's high-powered offense might be needed to come away next weekend with a road win. Army's secondary gave up some yards and points to ECU...NT is going to be tougher. Are two full weeks of prep time really needed for this year's Army team to beat this year's AF team? If so, we're not nearly as good as we think we are. Remember, NT is off this week, so they're getting 2 weeks to get ready for Army.
I think Monken is a bit more strategic in approaching this as a season...win the next game of course, but put yourself in position to keep winning the next game too.
