1996 #22 Army at 9-0 played number 19 syracuse. But we got crushed.Army Frog Fan wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 11:05 am Very proud of the Red Zone defense yesterday. Total bend, but don't break. After letting ECU gets a bunch of garbage time TDs, they haven't allowed anyone cross the goal line in 8 quarters. ND's offense is humming right now, so that will present an incredible challenge. I am thankful for the bye to heal up and prep for the biggest game Army has had, outside of rivalry games, in a very long time. When was the last time Army had a ranked vs. ranked game? 1996?

In case Army needs bulletin board material, ESPN put out a “projected CFP” ranking after Saturdays game. Army is still #25 and better than that they said NDs toughest remaining game is USC. Lack of respect right there.

Earlier in the year there were arguments about whether we should schedule ND. It’s ironic that without that game on our schedule we would have no possible chance to get into the CFP. I’m not saying we will win but obviously everything hinges on that game in regards to the CFP

It’d be nice if Ken Niamatalolo would do his old pal Jeff Monken a solid and beat Boise State next week.

First of all another fantastic win by this team... and what an outstanding year, with more to come!Armyfaninpa wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 10:00 am It wasn’t just the fake FG, it was also the entire sequence leading up to it. If I remember correctly, the defense makes a stop and takes possession inside NT territory with about a minute and a half left in the 2Q with all three timeouts left. A chance to turn a 1 posssession game into a 3 possession game without NT offense taking the field frittered away (army receiving second half kickoff) how many of those timeouts did they take to the locker room with them?
Yesterday, the team went into the locker room with 1 TO in their pocket. I agree about the sequence. I think there was an injury to a NT player and trainers & coaches were on the field, then the clock began running and Daily seemed slow to snap the ball. When the ball fell incomplete and the PI was called - there was only 1 second left on the clock. So feel the clock management is something the coaching staff can work on.
It was interesting to see the "binder guy" tailing Coach Monken as much as he did all day... so credit to them they seem to track everything and follow what the the stats say.
Lets get healthy this week & GO Army, Beat the Irish!

This year should be the best opportunity for Coach JM to pick up that signature wi of his career. In addition to Notre Dame, they can either play #5 seed in the Big Dance, or if they don’t get the invite have a chance at an elite program in the Big 10 or SEC in. New Years Game (LSU? UGA?) that will also be left out.Any of these programs will look at such a matchup as a major letdown and likely to have all draft prospects sitting out. All the ingredients necessary for an upset victory. Given all the conference realignments going on Army may not have any opportunities to even schedule an elite program much less beat one. Let this be the year!

Obviously everyone wants to make the playoffs, but on the topic of a Bowl Game if they don’t make the playoffs, I’d really hope a 10 win Army team that at least reaches the conference title game is given a fairly high profile bowl. No offense to the folks who run the Armed Forces Bowl, but it’s going to be a little disappointing if Army goes something like 11-1, wins the AAC, and gets sent to the same bowl they would have if they’d gone 6-6.Armyfaninpa wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 8:31 pm This year should be the best opportunity for Coach JM to pick up that signature wi of his career.
