Marist is a non-scholarship FCS program and would not count toward bowl eligibility.

They should have never been scheduled.

Sounds like Tarleton State is an upgrade.

Any team counting toward bowl eligibility would have been an upgrade!

When I saw the announcement earlier this fall about the Kansas State game on the road for the first weekend of September, I was concerned we were opening on the road against a P4 team. I'm glad to see a home game the week before against an FCS opponent.

This seems like smart scheduling building to me: get a "should win" game at home to kick the season off and get a game under their belts. And then turn and play a P4 team early in the season to give a chance for some early season credibility---we also face them with a good chance to be healthy and ready to give them our best shot.

Can anybody tell me in what state Tarleton State is located ?
Is it really a state school?
Is it a private school started by a Mr. Tarleton?

At least we knew where Delaware State was located when we played them.

Yes, Tarleton State University is a state school and part of the Texas A&M University System. It is located in Stephenville, Texas, the county seat of Erath County. Of course, all this is easily learned with a quick on-line search.
