I would contend that if we pass more than 10 plays a game that this will be a long season.
Our plays are going to start 5 yards deep in the shotgun. So to be clear on most plays we are going to have to make up 5 yards before we start to make forward progress. And throwing it around I don't think is going to help. Maybe I'm totally wrong. And trust me I sure hope so. Gonna be interesting for sure.

If it's more than 10 passes in the traditional way we think of a pass (i.e. downfield), then you may be right...having to pass that much probably means the run game isn't working great.
But, I've read/heard multiple times this off-season the comment that this offense will create pitches on the outside that are technically passes because they are forward, but are really not much different than a pitch in the flexbone/triple option. The new OC has commented that short passes are not much different in his thinking than a running play--it's just a short pitch.
So, if we're getting 10 or more of those types of "passes" per game, it may be an indicator that the offense is working as planned and not cause for alarm.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the new offense looks like and am hopeful.

a good chunk of the highlights and photos from the most recent scrimmage shows us in an under the center formation...wonder if we will be mixing it up a lot

I think a lot is going to depend on our ability to actually get the ball to open receivers and then for them to handle the ball. We've had QB after QB who simply could not consistently get the ball to receivers, granted that was likely due in part to never having a "warm" arm.
