So now....be prepared to lose in a row to UTSA, Syracuse, BC, Troy and LSU.

We'll be looking at 1-6.

And congratulations to all those that have complained that our schedule is too weak, because you are going to see what happens when we play solid Division 1 teams over the next 5 weeks.

How quickly army fans forget that our glorious 11-2 year in 1996 had games versus yale and lafayette, and the one time we played a good team (syracuse) they beat us by 4 touchdowns. Not to be confused with 1995, where we "laid the groundwork" for 1996 by beating Colgate, Bucknell and Leheigh.

We don't need to be playing LSU, BC and Syracuse in a 4 week span. That is stupid.

And we don't need to be in the AAC playing 8 conference games in a row. And we definitely don't need to be in the AAC playing 8 conference games and then have navy count as a non-conference game, as rumored.

How quickly we forget how monken got us good--hint, it wasn't by playing LSU BC and Syracuse in the same month. It was by playing Oklohama..and then playing Buffalo and San Jose State and winning 100-20

I've been very happy with our scheduling the last 5-6 years but this year is ridiculous.

The only good thing to come out of this game was that we escaped serious injuries. It did provide some practice, which was badly needed. Any team or individual accomplishments in this game must be taken with the proverbial grain of salt.

I'll take that bet wpgrad.
I say we're better than 1 and 6 after LSU.
Make it 3 and 3, most likely, or 2 and 4 worst case, but no 5 straight loses.

Btw, kindly do not disparage the '96 Team; one of my all-time favorites. If memory serves, they beat Duke, Rutgers, N Texas, Tulane, AF and the squids....missed beating Auburn in the Indep Bowl by an eyelash....

And '95, as I recall, lost by another goal-line eyelash at U of Washington and yet another to ND when Leschinski broke his pattern 1 yard too early on a gutsy game-winning quick-out 2 PAT....closest we've come to beating the Irish in forever.

1958, I think, was the last time we beat 'em....when we went undefeated and finished 3d in the polls.

So yeah, 65 years ago constitutes "forever" in my football book (but congrats on still being here!)

Tulane was 2-9 that year. Rutgers was 2-9 that year. Duke was 0-11 that year.

Unfortunate that schedulers don't have crystal balls to predict each team's likely record...especially in these days of transfer portals.

Bet stands.

It's not the scheduling that concerns me it's the offense that concerns me. We can beat USTA, BC, and Syracuse with the old offense. Not a single one of those is an elite program. Syracuse was 7-6 last year. Not the same type squad we faced in '96 that had future HOF QB and about 5 or 6 others all headed to the league. BC was 3-9 last year and barely beat Holy Cross last week. We've beaten UTSA before. We should have beaten Troy last year and lost by 1 point but they still went 12-2 on the year. LSU is the only game we are totally overmatched in and frankly if we played them like we played OU we'd be in that one too.

Spare me the idea that '95 or '96 weren't good teams because of scheduling. BC beat us in '94 30-3 and in '95 we beat them 49-7 on the road. Duke was 8-4 in '94 and went to a bowl game. We beat them in '95 but the officials made a horrible call. There was no instant replay but had there been it would have been overturned. Coach Goldsmith came into the Army lockeroom, unannounced, and all but apologized for the call. Washington was ranked #22. Hell East Carolina was 9-3 in '95 and won the liberty bowl. The downfall of the '95 team was really the tie vs Rice and the AFA game in COS. That was probably the toughest schedule we had during the '90s. The '96 team didn't control the scheduling but won 9 out of 10 by two scores or more handily. Syracuse was loaded but people forget we dominated AF at home, and beat a damn good Navy team the had Paul Johnson as the OC and still the biggest comeback in A/N history. The Auburn team we played had future NFL players all over it and they had lost 4 games, to LSU by 4, to Alabama by 1, and to Georgia by 7 in the first overtime game in SEC history. The only team that truly dominated Auburn was a Danny Wuerfel led Florida team that won the National Championship. Yes we had plenty of teams that weren't at their peak in '96 but all you can do is go out and beat them handily.

Back to the issue at hand. It's not the schedule it's our style of play that is going to be the issue.

Navy played plenty of good teams and won many of those games during their independent years.

We can do the same if we fix the offense.

If we want to play FCS teams, drop down to the FCS. The Patriot League would love to have our football.

C'mon with the greatness of The 1995 team. They were 2-5-1 versus Division 1-A opponents. Beat Navy by 1 whole point (or would have been 1-6-1). And the BC team that you mention beating was 4-8 that year. And they lost to Air Force by 3 touchdowns. And tied a 2-8-1 Rice team. I mean, C'mon.

The 1996 was very good, but their great record was helped extensively by the fact they played quite a few bad teams to include 2-9 Rutgers, 2-9 Tulane, 0-11 Duke and 2 Division 1-AA teams. Which is EXACTLY my point. Our good years of good records come, in part, because we play alot of really bad teams while also playing a good team like oklahoma, michigan or Auburn in the bowl game.

And, as to my point, yes we played notre dame tough. And Washington tough. And Auburn Tough. And lost to them all.

We are not going to be so good, though, when we have to play them back to back to back to back with not rest for the weary. Which I why I hate our schedule in the next month, and why I hate the idea of joining the AAC
