The post game presser is very very telling. Monken doesn't give away the farm but his comments are very telling. Twice he talks about how he thought they would get better in the gun and they didn't. He talked about how quick the running plays hit under center. He talked about what he saw Wofford do running both Triple and Gun option. Said it is very hard to serve two masters. Which may be the most telling thing he said. I'm certain we will keep some gun option. Rightfully so. And I'm certain that if we get back under center predominantly that other teams will be way more prepared than Coastal was today. However I do think today is a strong example for why being under center and having the triple as the core of your offense and then adding packages to support it, which is what Air Force does, is the key.

I'm sure we'll see some different stuff vs Navy. They will be prepared for us to be under center. It will be a battle because it always is regardless of scheme. Let's hope for strong defense, no turnovers, and few if any penalties and we will be in that game and likely on the right side.

Coach beck after 1st quarter said they had no idea this was gonna happen. That certainly helped. Navy wont be surprised although, also, navy now has to prepare for both

Hell, MONKEN had no idea this would happen! He admitted that, after the first td drive went so well, "we just stuck with it..."

Sometimes it pays not to overthink things.

Navy will be more prepared but the under center game plan today was much more varied than the 2022 version. FBs carried 24 times and Daily 22. Marshal and Robinson each got 7 carries which seemed to be the element that was missing from 2022, ie. the outside pitches. CC has a fast defense and Marshall still averaged 9 yards a carry and Robinson 5. I would feel comfortable with a game plan similar to today against Navy. They aren’t exactly a juggernaut this year.

To be fair to 2022 I think the interior O line played pretty well today for the fullbacks too. Not exactly the case in 2022. A big part of that I think is the center. He's played really really well this year especially for a plebe and Monken recognized that as well. Not the case the last few years at center and with the guards.

Wasn’t Conor Bishop the center last year? Small is good but Bishop was no slouch.

Bishop was ok but the guards struggled too. I wouldn't say bishop was dominate at center in my estimation.

So AF just lost to Unlv after giving up 17 unanswered point in the second half. They had the ball inside the UNLV 10 at the end and couldn’t score. Can this day get any better??

Tell me Udoh and Reed and Jones will be 100% in 3 weeks, and the day will get even better...
