Yeah let me just say I’m super pumped to watch them in the Conference Title game next week and then Navy the week after. I personally enjoy them being in a conference.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but the person who repeats their opinion the most isn’t automatically the winner.

While I do not like playing the same teams annually as they get used to defending against the option- ours and Navy’s- There is no denying that this year the stars have aligned and we are regularly on national news: with 10-1 schedule, hosting conference championship, looking at bigger playoff games, regularly mentioned as long shot CFP team, mentioned as having a fringe Heisman QB, before longest winning streak etc etc. As this article shows Army has benefited from the conference this year. This has likely been the most publicity the Academy and program has had since Pete Dawkins! While bad things may happen in future- IMHO right now great things are happening for attention, recruitment, interest that will pay dividends for Army in the coming year if properly capitalized upon. I remember hearing Coach George Allen saying “The future is now”. Beat Navy

Its why i’ve said from day 1 joining was a lazy decision, not thought out. No one in the room had the guts to say, you know, what if we actually win and this navy game backfires?
And instead of 3 weeks off for navy we’re going to have 6 days after playing a top 30/40 tulane team. For what? A guaranteed game versus tulsa and temple instead of ball state and holy cross? No thanks
For what? Are you kidding? Have you not read anything about sports in 3 months or so?
We made a real run at the CFP, established ourselves as a top-5 G5 team, have a chance to win the AAC, CIC, and a bowl game all while being all over the sports news.
Yes, it’s tough, but if you win, you play harder teams. I’ll grant you that the long-term picture is to be seen, but it would be tough to ask for more the first year in the AAC.
Well I’ve pretty much seen every army game each year since late 90’s so…yes I watch
Yes, this year has been great. We caught all the breaks, had a very easy aac schedule, and had a once in a generation QB. But sorry I’m not excited for future years where we get the usf’s and Tulane and Memphis ‘ in season… and we play the same teams over and over…and we can’t manipulate our schedule to have 3 weeks off before navy. And for what? The bowl we’ll likely get this year was the bowl we’d have gotten anyways with 6 wins as an independent
And being in the AAC championship? No one cares. Don’t believe me…without looking…who played in the 2021 aac championship
We’ll regret this decision by 2027
Weird mindset for me right now. I care 100x more about the navy game than beating Tulane next week.
It’s stupid playing our most important game after a championship game. In a way I care more about coming out of the Tulane game healthy for navy than I do about beating Tulane. A conference championship should be a cherry on top to end the season. In this current format making the aac championship is a disadvantage for the army navy game.

Here's how the Brave Army Team and it's beloved HC feel about things as we close out an absolutely epic season. They are deservedly pumped and proud. The AD deserves great credit also, as does Sup Daddy. The entire organization, less a couple of ridiculous self-indulged, in-love-with-each-other "fans" with their 'inside sources" and their repetitive BABBLING should pop up their chests.
Joining a conference prevented us from becoming irrelevant. JM has explained this over and over and over. We enjoyed more outstanding press this year than we have in any 5 years combined since the late 50's. It helped elevate our generational QB into the Heisman conversation, and even the Team itself was and still is seriously mentioned in the CFP matrix. Could NEVER have happened otherwise. The coaches love it. The TEAM loves it. That's who counts.
We played the schedule we were assigned and practically ran the table. NO ONE, even the "savants" on this forum, can predict whether the teams we are scheduled to play will be great or not great from one year to another. You play the opponent across the field every week and you beat him, that's the objective. And putting ND on the schedule on the 100th Anniversary of a storied game was an inspired move. It was the most anticipated "Shamrock Series" game in memory. The fact that ND kicked our ass because they are good enough to very well win the Natl Championship this year was again, not predictable. I hope we always have at least 1 high bar every year.
Finally, to those who hated our play yesterday. Uh, WE WON, and we won because we found a way to win. That's what winners do. Run game didn't work, so we threw. D came up huge. We'll learn and we'll adjust, so we can be better next week. But WE WON, savvy???
That's the objective, for those who just love to hear themselves pontificate.
Final thought: Having a less time to prepare for Army/Navy is not necessarily a disadvantage. There are many players who prefer to "stay in rhythm" with a standard week between games. Again, not always better to have "healing time" vs "rusting time".... It's never predictable.
Out.

This is exactly my point. Out of my 10 or so west point buds (none on this board), all of us have zero interest in the AAC game and just want no injuries so we can beat navy.
Other than about 5 guys on this board, no one gives a shit who wins the meaningless AAC title game. But all of us care about Navy game…..and all this extra game does is negatively impact navy

WPGRAD I don't think that is true at all. I have classmate threads of folks looking to road trip to USMA Friday and my son wants me to fly in. Please kindly speak for yourself. Haven't we been asking for a Michie legit national stage game for years? This is about as good as it's gonna get Guys.
Armorman hit the nail on the head: good offensive football teams take what's given and execute. UTSA was doing a good job stuffing the inside run and also covering the perimeter. So the answer - over the top big passing plays. Executed. That is something to be applauded, not luck. And when UTSA tried to throw downfield....two picks. And Army gets the W.
Congrats to Coach Monken and the entire team for running the AAC regular season table and bringing a championship game to West Point. Well done(!) OBOAT --

Anyone know when the last non service academy game on national network TV was from Michie?
I know Air Force has been on CBS and the Navy game in the COVID year but not sure when a non-SA game would’ve been.

Armorman nailed it!
Guarantee you the players and coaches are fired up about the chance to win a conference championship! They have earned it. Trust Monken to have the guys ready for the Navy game, win or lose this weekend.
Until then, enjoy the ride! Navy hasn’t won a championship yet…would be sweet to do it in our first year in the AAC!
Beat Tulane! Beat Navy!
