Fire Monken. His cut block rationale was BS. These announcers just parroted Monken’s talking points and then said “another reason he changed was because (according to Monken) the Air Force & Navy games were getting very close each year and this change might give Army an advantage in those games.” I’m not sure where they got that info, or whether they were just speculating. But it’s moronic logic: who would want to flip an advantage in 9 games for one in 2 games? I’ll take the potential advantage in 9 games, and a bowl appearance, with an even shot against AF & Navy over what we have now any day. Frankly, it begs the question whether Monken thought this would up his chances for a P-5 job. I don’t believe so, but the original rationale by him has more holes in it than Swiss cheese, and it’s aging badly.

Ha! Well there's the real irony. Monken wanted this Offense to get a Power 5 job. Pretty sure it's having the exact opposite effect. Hope he enjoys winters in the Hudson Valley.

Monken changed the offense to get another job. Period.

That Sports Illustrated article isn’t aging well.

Monken wanted a Power 5 job and sacrificed the program to get one.

Give him a lifetime contract!

I think he just misdiagnosed the source of Army's lack of production on offense the past two seasons.

I think that's totally it but amazed he hasn't done a better job addressing it. Really it leads me to question the expertise. Hell call Paul Johnson and pay him as a consultant to come take a look. We need to win football games!

You raise an excellent point. Jeff has said numerous times that he still considers PJ a friend and still consults occasionally. Wonder if he ran that "gun" idea by him? Wonder if he said, "Coach, I'm thinkin about switchin from what you made famous at Ga Southern, navy, and GT, and what I later adapted successfully at Ga Southern and Army. Thinkin about turnin my back on an offense that nobody could stop when we ran it as designed. Not OU, not Michigan, not nobody. Whatcha think?"....
