Re: College Football Playoffs
Agree with Oliphant. There isn’t a sound argument for us to be included in the top 12. If the ND game was within 7-10 points maybe, but it was a runaway. I do think we should be higher than 24 and in front of some of these 3 loss teams for sure. We had our shot and missed badly, no harm in that. If we played in the SEC we would most likely be below .500
Gotta be a realist about that.

And Boise State should be there. A 3 point loss to Oregon as there only blemish seals the deal. I have no problem with them being the #1 school in the G5

Re: College Football Playoffs
I can’t think of a single SEC school we could have beaten this year. And that includes Vandy.
It is a pretty remarkable accomplishment to win this conference without the aid of the portal or NIL. And fantastic exposure for the team last night.
Hopefully daily gets an invite to New York. He certainly deserves it.

Re: College Football Playoffs
As long as who goes to the playoff is subjective, then they will never have it right. I get that a 3 loss Alabama is probably better than us. But if we always just listened to the pickers, then why even play the damned games? I will never ever understand people who are not for allowing a season and conference champions to determine who gets into the playoffs. With that thinking we should still crown Tulane the AAC champions because the experts picked them. Nevermind who wins. I'm sick to death of a teams name and legacy determining rankings and who gets to play for championships. Alabama? 3 losses. Sorry. Not this year. Recond means something. In the era of conference shifting, just make 12 conferences. Divide them up so they are fairly equitable. Then 12 conference champions go to the playoff. Simple.

Mississippi State, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kentucky…. We were supposed to play Tennessee this year originally but replaced them with Lehigh. Frankly I think our offense is a potential game changer against these rhythm based teams and Texas proved that this week by giving Georgia all they wanted after getting blown out by them earlier this year. No idea why we let ND run all over us but yeah SOS killed us in the end for the playoffs

Re: College Football Playoffs
Here's the argument for us to be in. And just to be clear I don't disagree with any of the other comments. The ND game clearly sealed our fate. Had it been close we'd be in. Boise is good. We probably are a .500 SEC team. But the argument for us to be in is Indiana. They have a stronger SOS but haven't played a single top 25 team and have no pivotal wins. They played poorly against Ohio State not radically different than our ND game. They are getting credit for playing in the big 10 and for playing other P4 schools. But I'm not really sure many of those teams are much better than ECU or UTSA or North Texas or Air Force to be honest.
I'm not unrealistic and I'm pretty sure we aren't a top 12 team but we did win a conference championship and I agree with others that those wins should be good enough for a play off spot. The sad part is that it's not really clear that we get a decent bowl or opponent to play in the bowl. GA Tech would be about as good as we get. And the bowls are all over the place. The Military bowl in Annapolis? Please. The Fenway bowl in Boston in a baseball park? Are you kidding me. I mean the Independence Bowl is ok but even then it's not what it used to be. And some of the projected teams. A 6-6 WVU? Blah.... Texas State was projected in one article I read. Good lord.
Personally I'd want a bowl in a good locale. Florida? Arizona, California maybe. Hell how about Hawaii. Navy is being projected for the a Hawaii bowl. good lord. You want an argument against the AAC then is should be the lack of a really strong bowl affiliation for the champion. And we should get a decent P4 conference opponent. Would love to see us play South Carolina or Texas A&M or Colorado or BYU or Illinois someone who would really challenge us. Maybe even Oklahoma or Alabama or Michigan. Maybe get revenge for the past.
I'll leave this post with this. As much as I might have hoped we'd be in I know we aren't. And that's ok. Been a great season so far and hopefully more to come. the chaos this year and the debate over who is in and who is out is fantastic for College Football. It's part of why this product is so much better than the NFL. The controversy and debate and passion and loyalty. But if I were to argue I'd have to say that the Indiana Argument is the closest I could find to suggest we should be in.

Re: College Football Playoffs
It will be interesting how much the conference win moves them up in the rankings, even though it won’t be enough to get in. Do they move Army up just 1 or 2 spots, or is it more like 5 spots jump?

Re: College Football Playoffs
Find it interesting that AAC Commissioner now out yesterday also lobbying for us to be in the CFP and calling Daily a Heisman candidate. last minute lobbying for both that I wish started earlier by the conference but, still great publicity for the Academy and program. Will be interesting to watch if recruiting improves significantly. Best Navy

Re: College Football Playoffs
Lots of talk on Sirius XM College Sports this morning about the CFP Committee needing to consider Army. One time in a conversation with 4 analysts, someone said “Compare the resumes between #9 Indiana and #24 Army, and you tell me why Indiana’s is better.” None of them could think of anything, and they agreed with the point.
