RB Anthony Adkins, 6-3, 225, LaRue County HS, Hodgenville, Ky.: Other offers – Louisville, Bowling Green, Western Kentucky, Georgia State. Former
Louisville commit. USA Today second-team, all-state linebacker.
I'm betting Adkins sees significant playing time this season.

I agree and see that - SAL INTERDONATO reports that Army Football received the early commitment for 2020 from Acadiana (La.) running back Dillan Monette. Monette is known for brains and speed. His speed appears to match well with our current slot backs.

“Monette hopes to follow the path of senior linebacker Kenneth Brinson. Brinson has been named a Stanford University Knight-Hennessy Scholar and will an MD and PhD in engineering at Stanford.
Army is adding speed with Monette’s commitment. Monette said his best time in the 40-yard dash is 4.41 seconds. Army is recruiting the 5-foot-7, 170-pound Monette to play slotback.”

Re: Army Player on Lott Watch list

Post by ArmyBN82 » Fri May 17, 2019 10:44 pm

COLE CHRISTIANSEN, Army, LB was selected as one of 42 players on the Watch List for the Lott IMPACT Trophy. The Lott Trophy is given to the player who exhibits the same characteristics Lott embodied during his distinguished career: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

Interesting that later opponent Michigan is the only school on the list with two candidates. KHALEKE HUDSON, Michigan, LB/S and JOSH METELLUS, Michigan, S. Lest we forget while graduation thinned Michigan’s D they have some real ipact players left there ;O

Re: Army Awards

Post by ArmyBN82 » Sat May 25, 2019 1:31 am

Army awards night this week - Men's Cow of the Year was - QB Kelvin Hopkins Jr. helped that he was the first player in academy history to rush and throw for 1,000 yards in a single season :)

Army Men's Performance of the Year goes to James Nachtigal - for his unbelievable performance in our win over Houston.

Maggie Dixon Inspiration Award went to Bruce Holland for being an awesome center three straight years.

Can't argue with any of these...

ARMY’S FOOTBALL TEAM HAS A STAGGERING AMOUNT OF SUCCESS ON 4TH DOWN

Post by ArmyBN82 » Sun May 26, 2019 2:24 am

Interesting article by the Daily Caller looking at Army's success on 4th down.. It rightly cites our size and talent differential, hard to recruit for the Academies and how the option helps to make up for that lack of size and speed.. I personally believe this year we will see less 4th and 1's but more yards gained on the possessions.

“While Army went 21-for-23, fellow optioneers Air Force, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, and Navy went a combined 40-for-52. That’s a 77 percent success rate, still better than normal, and far below 91 damn percent.”

"Elite recruits have no interest in going to service academies when they can ball out and party at Alabama. That means Army and Navy have to develop offenses for guys who aren’t big time football players, which leads them to the triple offense. It handicaps the other team’s speed and can be very successful."

Still early in recruiting period for 2020 but Army took another one sought by Air Force as Sal Interdonato reports 6-foot-2 195 pounds Safety Kaiser Cambra-Cho committed to Army.

“It feels like a dream come true,” said Cambra-Cho, who is 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds. “I think that they have amazing coaches that know what they’re doing and they really made me feel at home. I also think the caliber of Army football just keeps going up.”

While only 5 commits several are already note worthy in particular:
P-K Albert Jang, 6-2, 185, Peachtree Ridge HS, Suwanee, Ga. Other offers – Air Force - cited earlier as one of the top 3 in the country, and
"T David Hoyt, 6-6, 280, Tampa (Fla.) Catholic HS: Ranked 90th-best tackle of the 2020 class by 247 Sports. Other offers – Rutgers, Louisville, Illinois, Buffalo, Western Kentucky, Western Michigan, Tulane, Toledo, Ohio, Colorado State, Middle Tennessee State, Southern Mississippi, Liberty. (COMMITTED, March 30)"

It's amazing that Army is getting kids like these. These were guys that we would've had no chance after Navy and AF visited them. Coach Monken has truly transformed the program.

Monken has to be working very hard in beating out both Navy and AF for some of these guys. We are seeing some good results for the immediate future.
