Re: Coach Monken suggested for the Stanford and Liberty jobs by one scribe...
If you go back and look, these "lists" are often not even close. Like, for example, charlotte job, the guy they hired...never listed.
So many of these "lists" are generated by writers who get their lists from agents, and the agents are pumping up their own clients to get them "on the list"
Its obvious monken wants to leave, because he has been interviewed at Kansas among others. So, my guess is he is in "panic mode" after a bad season, with a tough schedule in 2023, and a wife who is probably saying "are we here in highland falls forever?" So, given that, he probably has his agent throwing his name at every opening in the United States. Heck, if Navy fires Ken, we'll probably see his name on the list for that job.

I don't think Monken is a good fit for Stanford. He's a conservative kind of guy and they are very left wing. He'd go from one extreme to another. Liberty would probably be a better fit.

It's crazy how much some of these coaches are getting paid these days. But not all of them pan out. Look at Scott Frost from Nebraska. They thought he was their savior and just a couple of seasons later they wanted him gone.

Regarding liberty have you ever seen their campus? Most $$ and perhaps best facilities in all of the mid-majors. 1.6billion endowment
When you think liberty, basically think byu

interesting....now i truly could imagine monken walking away from west point to a mid major...as much as his family might miss dining at Dong Fong's, Schades, or the park restaurant, moving to a mid major, where he could probably also be successful, for double the salary would be appealingwpgrad wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 6:29 pmMonken makes around $2mDong Fong '09 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 4:53 pm i was about to ask why the heck would monken want to go coach at liberty, and then i saw hugh freeze was making like $5 mil a year? Agree with wpgrad that Liberty is flush with cash. Been there more than a few times and I am not sure when they stop building out but that place and its supporters are getting it done, big time.

With the 4 making the shift to big 12, Liberty is the highest funded program in group of 5. Not only paid freeze $5m but also literally built him a house. In the much weaker CUSA, 12-0 now gets you in the 12-team playoffDong Fong '09 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 8:29 aminteresting....now i truly could imagine monken walking away from west point to a mid major...as much as his family might miss dining at Dong Fong's, Schades, or the park restaurant, moving to a mid major, where he could probably also be successful, for double the salary would be appealingwpgrad wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 6:29 pmMonken makes around $2mDong Fong '09 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 4:53 pm i was about to ask why the heck would monken want to go coach at liberty, and then i saw hugh freeze was making like $5 mil a year? Liberty isnt for me….but it may well be the best job in group of 5 in terms of facilities, $$, and ease of winning

Are there any updates regarding the USF job? Personally, I feel that it would be the best fit for JM and vice versa. An area loaded with local talent, with all competitors recruiting the same type of talent tailor made for the pitch-and-catch offenses that dominate the local landscape. If any program has nothing to lose by making an "outside of the box" type of hire, it would be USF.
