At some point, a coach has to begin winning regularly or you bring in new blood. He apparently did a nice job, but couldn't find the right player-scheme combination to get there. Good Luck to him. I was thinking a couple of days ago that I couldn't ever remember Army Basketball finishing in the top two or three of the Patriot League. If they have, I can't remember it. Seven years seems like a decent run for what has been a middling record.

The statement on Armys web site says both party's
"mutually agreed to a change". Army BB had a good
year and return all the starters next year (minus C. Mann),
plus have 2 very promising freshman, with Roberts being
named patriot league rookie of the year. Why would
Army now decide to get rid of JA. Did something
happen off the court that created an issue with JA?

Navy women’s basketball went 1-29 this season and the coach still has a job.

From all accounts it seems like Jimmy Allen is a good guy. However, the program is mediocre and mediocre isn’t good enough. In 7 years we’ve made the conference semis 2 times. That isn’t good enough. There is no reason we shouldn’t occasionally compete to win a conference championship. This isn’t the ACC or Big 12. Our facilities are competitive with everyone in the conference. We aren’t playing NBA players each week in conference play. The women compete for a conference championship from time to time. I don’t think there is a reason the men can’t do the same.

Ah yes, the great Tom Miller. Lifetime D1 Head Coach record of 119-225. But even less impressive than his coaching record is the quality of the person he is.

We can thank Robert Montgomery Knight for that recommendation. Thanks for “the solid” General.

Roberts and Benson leaving Army.

Patriot League rookie of the year Ethan Roberts and the Black Knights’ top 3-point shooter Coleton Benson are entering the transfer portal.

He may have been a great guy and all that but a losing record made in the past seven years will just not cut it in today's coaching ranks. Eventually it all comes down to winning at your game.
