Season predictions

Army Football friends, it’s been a while since I’ve been around this board. Life changes and gets in the way of stuff like this sometimes but I’m glad to be back and to see some of the same posters still at it (looking at you Rabble!). More importantly, I’m ready for another Army football season to get under way.

I didn’t see a season prediction thread so I figured I would start one. I don’t think any of us knows what to expect given the new offense and coaches but I think we can reasonably infer the approximate skill of our opponents so I’ll give a prediction a shot.

8-4 with a win over Navy and a split of the CiC. Optimistic? Who the hell knows? But I’m ready to find out!

What say you all??

Beat em

Most in the" know" (not me) say 6-6.
Since I am nowhere in the know because I don't know much and neither do most of us. Everything is brand new on the offense. How can we predict anything??
With that in mind, I guess I will say 6-6.
The range is from 4-8 to 8-4 so I will have to keep it in the middle of that range. Thus, I will avoid being either optimistic or pessimistic. 8-)

6-6 seems about right, given the schedule. I'm going to say 7-5 and a bowl game though and lean a little bit optimistic:

4 "should wins": ULM, Del State, UMASS and Holy Cross

That leaves 3 more wins needed from the following to get to 7:

UTSA, Syracuse, BC, Troy, AF, Coastal Carolina and Navy

From that group of games, I think Army has the best shot at beating Navy, Troy and CC. BC could be a W as well, depending on health of the team.

AF is going to be tough and Syracuse on the road is going to be tough as well. I think Frank Harris is going to give our D fits in San Antonio.

So, I think we miss the CinC this year with a loss to AF, but beat Navy, finish 7-5 and get to a bowl game...which I would say would be a good season with this schedule.

Hope it's even better than this, but think this is only slightly optimistic and is very achievable.

I’m pretty much right here with you. It’s really hard to say until we see how successful the offense is (or isn’t) but I think you nailed the “should wins”. It feels to me like we beat Navy too.

I’d be happy with 7-5 and a bowl. Tough schedule this year and definitely some bugs to work out in any new offense.

7-5

6 wins versus ULM, Del St., UMASS, Holy Cross, Boston College, and Navy.

4 losses versus Syracuse, LSU, AF, and UTSA

2 toss ups versus Troy and Coastal Carolina. Football Gods bounce the ball Army’s way at least in one of those.

With optimism, I thought we could go 8-4. before the opener with ULM. I now think 1-11 is more likely than 5-7. There is no down field blocking. The O line isn't developed for pass blocking nor does it have the strength to hold a pass/run blitz. QB isn't seasoned enough to make reads under pressure and his backup is skittish. Really disappointing realization that what some feared will indeed happen. LSU might get 10 turnovers off this year's Army team.
Team on the decline to the bottom of the barrel once again?

Not sure what drugs I was taking before the season. We may actually go winless again unless one of our opponents forfeits.

0-12.

We won't win a game and this will be Monkens last season. This new "offense" looked like someone brought 11 dudes together in the back yard and said we'll make it up as we go. I don't even think I will enjoy watching Army play any more. The anxiety of watching something so embarrassing isn't worth it.

Good feelings of optimism gone for sure. Sinking feeling we're headed into the abyss again, but hopefully that's just scar tissue from past "experiments" and Monken can right the ship. It was 1 game and they really shoulda/coulda still pulled out the ugly W, except for...well, crap.

Hard to see more than 2 or 3 wins at most given this schedule. So revised prediction: 2-10.

Will reevaluate and update if there is any sign of life and improvement in the coming weeks.

After the game, my wife said to me "Can we get a refund on the Air Force tickets?"
