Tyrell Robinson
Anyone have an idea as to when he'll be ready to play. Also - is he a junior or a senior re eligibility.

Re: Tyrell Robinson
He played last year as a Soph. This is year 3 of his eligibility as I believe.
At the academy, it makes no difference. 4 years and you should be done. With the wacky world of eligibility, who knows? Every rule is always in flux. You should have 4 years of ball, MAX.
This 5th year is garbage, even if you are out the whole year of football. Injury is part of the game. No exceptions. Tough, but life is tough. Accept it.

Re: Tyrell Robinson
Sal speculated that Robinson might be back for Boston College (YouTube recap of the DSU game). Only comments from JM earlier were that he would be ready early in the season.
On the Army roster, it lists him as a Junior, but Hohenzollern describes his contributions in 2020, 2021, and 2022 which would make him a senior.

Re: Tyrell Robinson
Well if he is a senior (not for me to say) then this is it for him. Of course, other schools would say different,
Its awfully tough to compete when you have to compete against 5th,6th,7th year so-called 'seniors" or grad students. 'NO EXCUSE, SIR" but after saying that , it's still hard to handle at an academy, unless you are the Air Force Academy who bends the rules like a rubber band. And, it 'aint all Covid crap now or should it be by this late date..

Re: Tyrell Robinson
This is his 4th year at WP, thou the Army site list him as a junior. He may have missed
a semester with the surgery last year. TR was on the sideline in his jersey (no pads)
last Saturday.

Re: Tyrell Robinson
My understanding is that Alston and Tyrell both wanted to transfer in part to take advantage of the extra covid year, which army did not automatically give to players. If you remember, they entered the portal and my source tells me that part of the deal with them returning was they got the covid year in some form or fashion.
So....they are seniors but for football, they are juniors. I would assume december grads. But they are both playing next year.
Part of monken's deals with Army has been a much more liberal use of the december grad option for players, which in essence gives us that "redshirt" year. Many players have done this for non-injury reasons to include Bryce Holland and for injury reasons like Amadeo west. Recent players that come to mind are Mike Johnson the lineman and Christian Anderson the QB who did the 5th year as december grads. Also, I'm 99% sure that Kelvin Hopkins also stayed until December, was eligible, but did NOT play.

For me, I don't know nuthin' anymore.
My source died years ago.

Re: Tyrell Robinson
that is great news for our football program, though i still can't wrap my head around someone wanting to stay longer at west point than absolutely necessary!wpgrad wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 5:14 pm My understanding is that Alston and Tyrell both wanted to transfer in part to take advantage of the extra covid year, which army did not automatically give to players. Re: Tyrell Robinson
Neither Alston or Robinson chose to be “turned back” to the Class of 2025. There are a handful of reasons grad dates change. There is no influence from the football program or its coaches to change grad dates.

Re: Tyrell Robinson
This is 100% not true. Monken has said it multiple times in interViews about various playerswithaheart wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 8:38 pm Neither Alston or Robinson chose to be “turned back” to the Class of 2025.
