Delaware State
Listen------I'm thrilled we won-----I'm always thrilled when we win.
Just an observation.
Been going to games since 1958 and Delaware State might be the worst team I've ever seen at Michie.
They lacked talent but what was more noticeable to me was how totally disorganized they appeared to be,
Handoffs to guys who weren't there-----missing a lineman------not being able to find the kicker on the bench.
Actually felt bad for them at stages------which is something I don't often feel about an opponent.
Comically speaking-----the ref actually called them Delta State at one point.

Re: Delaware State
Fair observation. I did think the had some talent on offense, though. Their QB2, running back and WR were pretty good.

Brand new coach.
A team I worked with once played at DSU. The entire operation was dysfunction-central.

Re: Delaware State
ridiculous game and only about 16,000 in the stands....absolutely no talent and, at the end of the game, their coach gathered their players around for a talking to....very odd.

Re: Delaware State
So if you add in or take out the 8000 seats in the EAST stands it adds up to 24000 12000 less than capacity, or at $50 a seat, or $600,000. Tough way to finance a $172 million dollar stadium renovation, or even more so justify it. ....And the 8000 seats missing for 2 years, at 6 games a year equals $4,800,000 And then will we be at 100% capacity of the remaining @28000 +/- seats. Probably not for all 6 games. At 80% occupancy for 2 years 6 each year that is an additional loss ANY THOUGHTS?

Re: Delaware State
Yes, the math doesn’t work. Especially with the trajectory of CFB. I’ve had season tickets since 1995. Maybe Army gets 1 sold out game a year. Army’s, Navy’s and Air Force’s football programs’ abilities to compete in the FBS will diminish annually as the NIL/Transfer Portal instant new team Neon Deion CU model takes hold. Scheme changes won’t make a difference against the talent. Eventually all the money will be with the remaining 60 Power 2 teams. Maybe they leave the NCAA and the have-not schools have their own championship but that’s not going to fill Michie stadium. No way the academy teams make it to the Power 2 and maintain their mission. Until then the ability to fill Michie will diminish along with the ability to compete. Until then I’m hoping and wishing and praying and rationalizing that Army beats everyone!rbmarmy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2023 10:31 am So if you add in or take out the 8000 seats in the EAST stands it adds up to 24000 12000 less than capacity, or at $50 a seat, or $600,000. Re: Delaware State
With the present stroke of inflation and the cost now over the cost of 1999 when first calculated, let the academy be prudent before pushing and sit on the plan for construction at this time and see how the economy transpires after our present administration is voted out and see where we stand at that time.
I don't believe that there is any need to persue anything on this huge project. The east stand are only 51 years
old and not that bad in shape. What is in bad shape is the old original 1924 original Michie at 100 years old next year.
I say hold and maintain. By that I mean, shore up the bad spots on the other three sides of the stadium FOR NOW and see where we stand in 5 years. Then rethink. Shoring up would cost quite a few Benjamins but what else should we do right now?
HOWEVER, if we continue on this same path nationally and financially, we could be off the Dollar as the worlds basis of exchange in 5 years and be looking at the Yen as our base of exchange. God forbid that but brother, the way we are heading with this less than trusty government we are now experiencing, it could very well become a reality. Those Dollars worth would become like the Yen 50 years ago.
Then what would be do with all that money we have accumulated so far to fund OUR big undertaking? Well, it would be worth little more than a tinkers damn. You want to see a new cost of construction if the Yen becomes our world guide?
Man, that IS our current crap shoot. That's the biggest crapshoot the football program would ever face much less our current financial national outlook. These days ANYTHING is possible.
Just my conservative opinion. Maybe you guys see it different. Let us see.

Hey! Progress is underway. They repainted the seat numbers in the upper deck. Now we know where we sit after years of confusion.

Re: Delaware State
After this post , I got to wondering, how many man-hours it would take to paint new numbers on the seats in the upper deck if just one man had the task?
Then again , how long in hours would it take a man to paint new numbers in the whole place?
Give me a number.
Want to try the Michigan Stadium?
