After AAron Rodgers devastating injury, the players association wants all grass fields and NO synthetic turf.
I think maybe but how can you keep a field in Green Bay from becoming a mud-field in the middle of December?
Or could you demand all stadiums construct a Dome and make it weather-proof but then, how do keep the grass from dying in the middle of December?

Re: NFLPA wants natural grass
I got my own answer.
How about putting massive grow lights on the field to keep the grass from dying in Dome stadiums.
Hey, nurseries do it all the time.
Billionaires have lots of troubles---
If dome, to keep my grass field but then my natural grass will then die.
If no dome, just let my grass die in December creating the possibility of a mud field late in the season.
If dome, construct shelves of grass so you can keep it in your dome during games and then put it outside later for sunshine.
If no dome, forget it all and sell your stadium and your team.

Re: NFLPA wants natural grass
Soldier Field (my local NFL franchise) is a grass surface and by my geography, there are only 5 other teams that are further North (GB, Minn, Det, NE, SEA). Seattle climate-wise doesn't matter for this argument, and 3 of the other four teams are in the same division so fair is fair, sort of. And of course, eff the Patriots. If there are studies that indicate that grass is safer then that works for me. The billionaires can worry about how to keep their fields in game shape.

Re: NFLPA wants natural grass
I found out today that there is a hybrid grass that is being used in Germany on their fields that consists of part natural grass mixed with synthetic material that feels somewhat like natural grass . It prevents erosion due to water. or overuse. Maybe that would be a solution if a mandate comes from the league to man-made fibers being used on their football playing surfaces.
Then again, maybe a hybrid surfaces would not be enough for the players OR the league.

Air Force had grass for year. The old grass had a wire grid buried that was electrified and heated up to keep snow off the ground, the ground thawed and warm enough to grow grass. It wasn't the best but it was still pretty decent. Where there's a will there's a way. Turf is just way less maintenance and cost over time. Turf is also more consistent. Injuries? IDK maybe I guess. All mine and I had several big ones were on Grass. Personally I prefer grass and think real football should be played on grass. Just my two cents. The spread offense and a turf field just looks like basketball to me. Especially in the NFL where they've gone soft.
