Be sure you watch the Air Force Highlights and catch the TD run that put them ahead to win.
It's a standard triple option play. Air Force runs to the wide side of the field. They put the wideout into the boundary and the tight end into the boundary. Wyoming stacks the defense to the boundary as well. Which means AF leaves 5 guys counting the middle backer to the field side. They don't block the hand off key which is the defensive end playing head up on the play side tackle and the QB pitches off of the middle backer who plays over the top. Essentially at this point Air Force is running 6 men on 5 and we have eliminated the hand off key who took the fullback, the middle backer who took quarterback. So Wyoming is down to 3 guys the defensive tackle who is in the A gap, the play side outside linebacker and the safety. The defensive tackle is washed down by the AF guard, so then you have this the Wyoming play side outside linebacker and safety vs the AF play side tackle, play side slot back, and the pitch man. Essentially 3 on two. But what you want to watch is simple. Watch the AF offensive play side tackle reach the outside backer and watch the play side slot block the safety on the perimeter. They tie up both players and spring the pitch man for a 58 yard touchdown. It just goes to show that when it's coached it can be executed. The falcons are now 6-0. And haven't played a tough schedule but they are winning and running under center option. There was a lot to this game and AF tried to give it away but they found a way to win. Maybe there was a hold maybe not but it shows what can be done. One play yes but they run this routinely.
