5 games left
Hey! we can STILL make a bowl. 5 games left with 4 games for bowl eligibility. Holy Cross will not count.
So, my Doctor degree in math tells we if we beat UMASS, AF, Coastal AND Navy, we will go bowling.
2 wins already plus 4 more equals 6 will not only bring the CIC Trophy back to West Point but will also give us a bowl bid. Not only that we will avoid a losing regular season like last year.
A" Frank Merriwell" ending to a great season. It could happen.
Don't get discouraged. It happened in that novel, didn't it???
What do you all think in a percentage scenario that it will happen?

1.8% chance of winning out, if ESPN's matchup predictors are accurate. We are underdog's to AF and Coastal. By their math UMass has a better chance of beating us than we have of getting a W against AF, so yep, pretty slim chance.RABBLE wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 10:15 pm Hey! we can STILL make a bowl. 5 games left with 4 games for bowl eligibility. Re: 5 games left
Too bad our AD can't add another P5 game or two. Maybe we can schedule a 13th game with Tulane or Michigan.
The combination of our hardest schedule in 20+ years (a few of those CUSA years were pretty darn competitive plus we'd play BC) along with learning a drastically new offense does not yield a very good 2023 season.
I wouldn't be shocked if we lost to UMASS or Holy Cross. Surprised, but not shocked.
The good news is that next year, we tenatively play not only syracuse and wake, but also notre dame.

Re: 5 games left
Not that it will matter in regard to this season, but there seems to speculation that with the inclusion of a few more bowls this year, there will probably be a few teams invited who do not meet the requisite requirements for bowl eligibility as currently stated, simply to make sure there are enough matchups to go around.
As for next year's schedule, of the ten games currently confirmed, 7 are on the road or at a neutral site. I would assume we'd try to add two home games. Really hope Notre Dame is not part of the equation. And all of a sudden, UNLV now looks like a daunting task. I believe they are 6-1 right now, with wins over Vanderbilt and Colorado State, and the only blemish what looks like a respectable 35-7 loss to Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Re: 5 games left
The best thing about being an independent is that you can play some pretty bad football for two months and still haver a chance to meet your primary objective by playing 120 minutes of good football at season's end.
The only positive thing about the LSU game was that both Harris and Robinson got some valuable in-game experience. Unfortunately, the results were not very encouraging - particularly in the passing game. Considering the increased emphasis on passing for this years offense, it's discouraging to see how little progress has been made there. I don't suppose there has been any updates concerning Daily's condition (it doesn't appear that he made the trip to LSU). I'm wondering if the idea is to keep Daily healthy for AFA and take their chances with the same 2 QB's vs UMass. I guess we'll find out by kickoff.
I didn't see the NAvy-AFA game, but a look at the stat sheet tells me that AFA ain't all that this year. It's worth noting that Army's defense has held AFA to a single touchdown in each of their last three meetings, but at this point in time don't think that this years unit is equal to that of years past. It's rather remarkable that Army has been able to split the games vs SA's over the last 4 years with such anemic rushing totals. Hopefully the passing game can come around - I have a feeling that the offense will need to convert more than a few third and long situations vs AFA and Navy.
