Just learned that Bob Anderson suffered a fatal heart attack while preparing his home for one of the recent hurricanes in West Melbourne, Fl. " Well done Bob, Be thou at peace."

Overshadowed by Dawkins but arguably his superior as a rusher.

Knowing Pete Dawkins personally along with my brother when Pete lived at the Jersey Shore in Rumson, NJ ,Pete told my brother that Bob Anderson was a better football player than he was himself. That was the humbleness that he always showed his friends.
As for Bob , I would have to agree with Pete. In my 78 years in following the team, I would say my All-time Offensive backfield would be Arnold Tucker, QB, Glenn Davis and Bob Anderson, HBS and "Doc" the FB.
I saw bob play many times with many wins and some losses too but the one I will always remember that I saw in person was the 1957 game with Notre Dame in Municipal Stadium in Philadelphia with 102,000 fans watching, when Bob ran 82 yards thru the whole Notre Dame team on an 82- yard run to open the scoring early in the game. I still remember that very moment as I was sitting in the North stands and as he was running toward me, I kept yelling to myself," COME ON ANDY COME ON ANDY!!" A great run and a great football player.
I get sad every time one of my football heros leave us. Anderson was right up there with the best.
Out of Cocoa Beach, Florida, fond memories of a college legend.
We remember.
1958-- CALDWELL, DAWKINS, ANDERSON, WALTERS and the last undefeated Army team even until today.
