Excitement of Notre Dame Game

Been an Army fan since 1989 and I think this might be the most excited I've been for a football game in the last 35 years. The added element of the 12 team playoff gives an excitement that the 1996 season, also 9-0 going into Syracuse, just didn't have.
Army is a 15.5 underdog. They are going to need to have a couple 20-play type drives to keep Notre Dame off the field, and we are going to have to get luck with a turnover or two.
We were this close to a marque win Versus michigan. If our fullback does not jump offsides, I think we score on that drive and I think we win that game.
Not to be overly hyperbolic but...this really is not only a defining moment for Army (can we actually beat a legit team, or are we just able to beat AAC/MAC type teams and 6-6 SEC teams) but really this is a defining moment for Monken's Army legacy.

100%
I'm all in for this one. It IS a defining moment, and (according to Tin Cup), when you reach a defining moment, you either define the moment or the moment defines you.
My money's on Army defining the moment; or, as Coach Sanders is fond of saying in Colorado:
"We comin!"
PS
Not to dilute the above subject, but I just saw the video of this year's A/N uniforms, which honor the 10st Airborne.
Perfect decision, on the 80th Anniversary of Bastogne, although imho the unis could be more "para-like", similar to the 82d unis of a few years ago....I'll post the video if no one else does soon.

Army has a real game. And they pretty much execute it very consistently. A big hill for sure. But this is exciting and likely THE game of this Saturday. I like the current winds and the chances. This is not a moral victory we tried so feel good about that attempt. Notre Dame knows it. But more and most importantly this Army Team knows it. Play big like you belong there BECAUSE YOU DO! And no dumb shit mistakes will help a bunch.
I grew up on Yankee baseball games in the old stadium. Never been in the new stadium. As a young boy with my brothers we believed as taught by our late father that the hot dogs tasted much better outside the stadium than in it. But apparently the beer was much better inside. It might have been an economic and cash delivery decision thing. Back when they had D-Cell battery nights and Bat Day. You gave some dude named Joe (lot of dudes named Joe) your car keys and he quadruple parked your car and amazingly you got your car back later on that night. The concrete jungle.

Air Force and Navy have recorded signature wins over ranked teams and Notre Dame. Monken needs to do so as well.

yep. Can't wait for this one. Hoping they play well and don't get the jitters like Navy did this year.

I am pumped for the game as well. Can’t wait for Saturday!
There are currently two narratives out there about this year’s Army team:
1. Army has run the table to date, has a strong team, and is being disrespected by the CFP committee.
2. Army has played a weak schedule and hasn’t really beaten anyone with a decent team. They will be exposed when they play real competition.
Saturday night’s game will go a long way in showing which narrative is right. Me? I am all in on #1.

Count me in on the "all in" group. All the stars and planets are in alignment - it's gonna happen folks.
Coaching staff - please reopen the playbook this week. The #1 guy looks to be perfectly ready to go. Pull out all the stops. This game is the Game 7 of a world series being played in November. Am hoping to see a few DJT dances in the end zone to spice things up a little bit.
Am loving the Old Yankee Stadium references. went to my first game(s) there in 1961 - saw them sweep a doubleheader vs White Sox - 4 HRs by Maris, 1 HR by Micky Mantle. Loved the dimensions of the old park - saw guys like Harmon Killebrew routinely hit 400 foot flies to Death Valley that didn't even reach the warning track while guys like Roger Maris hit 299 foot homers down the right field line. Funny, I always thought the hot dogs tasted better inside the park. As far as parking goes, I was always ecstatic to see my car in one piece - especially during the era of "NO RADIO" sign on the windows.

I think we have a legitimate shot to win if:
We win the turnover battle and
We are able to have TOP > 35 minutes
If we have sustained drives and don’t have to play from behind more than a TD then our offense can play in rhythm without pressing. The TOP factor could actually put the pressure on ND so they are forced into some mistakes. The Navy game was an aberration because of so many turnovers. I don’t expect to see anything like that game. Having said that the prognosticators are correct that we have not played anyone nearing NDs talent. So let’s see if we can handle the big stage. I hope so.

The Ghost of Christmas Past named Ivory Covington will be exorcised.
This team has a cultural identity and collective toughness we have not seen in decades.
And it lends itself to ball control, long drives and shortening the game.
Take care of the ball like our lives depend on it and we'll be in the game at the end with a chance to win -- setting the table for Black Knight magic to strike Yankee Stadium.
