As I said awhile back, I am not predicting a score on this game.
I am sad and disappointed that we even scheduled this game would have preferred another school AWAY to boost our rating for any chance of a playoff possibility.
Playing ND in NYC in their Shamrock Series is nothing more than a local lovefest for the Irish in an area 45 miles from West Point and a "tribute" to all the fans of Notre Dame which many do not even know the school is in a place called South Bend, Indiana. Many of them root for them because of their nickname THE FIGHTING IRISH instead of their original name THE RAMBLERS.
Smart business ploy I will agree to that. Many feel that the Irish are just better than anybody else. History will show that to be the case. The movie RUDY and WIN ONE FOR THE GIPPER are two prime examples that they have employed over the years even to the point where they mocked Army for giving them the worst loss in their football history (59-0 in 1944) yet exactly two weeks prior to that game, ND beat Dartmouth, 64-0.
No one knows that but it is the truth.
When the president of Notre Fr. Ted Hesburgh once said," COLLEGE FOOTBALL NEEDS sibling , my brother graduated from that fine institution.
If it were not for Army giving Notre Dame a game on the Plain a long time ago, Notre Dame would have never risen to the heights they have if it were not for West Point giving them the opportunity way back when. Yet today ND refuses to play Army at our beloved Michie Stadium because it is just too small.
When WP completes their upgrades , I would like to see ND accept a game at our place for the honor , respect and nostalgia that a game like that would bring both schools and not a game tomorrow in a baseball stadium which really means very little to me.
When I was in college, we beat Notre Dame ,14-2 in South Bend way back in 1958. That is two generations ago. Wouldn't it a fitting climax to me after being an absolute fan since 1945 to see this happen again after a lifetime?

Here we go. Big game tonight under the national spotlight. Army plays methodical football with great play calling. Daily, Udoh and short have big yardage. Defense causes turnovers.
Yes, I'm delirious. I have high hopes. Go Army! Be the first college football team to go 17-0.

I’m super pumped, glad they’re playing this game, and don’t think it’ll be a cakewalk for Notre Dame. But I can’t help but think Notre Dame is just too good.

Army keeps it close for a half, ND gets a cushion in the second when Army has to try throwing more.

Army plays Army-football: wins TOP and turnover battle, defense makes a critical stop or two and offense rushes for 250. Army gets the upset and injects some chaos into the CFP discussion:

Not very complicated.

Defense - many hats on the ball carrier. Do not allow two yard gains to become 5 yard gains after initial contact. Force Leonard to make 3rd and long conversions in 20 MPH wind and 40 MPH gusts.

Offense - Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em. No risky laterals when falling to the ground, no grabbing defenders when beaten at the LOS. Only turnovers and penalties can derail the offense.

Weather conditions will affect kicking and deep passing game.

In the meantime, I'll be watching Youtube videos of USA vs Soviet Union hockey 1980 Lake Placid, Buster Douglas coming in at 42-1 and KOing the Baddest Man on the Planet, and maybe even a look at last years Army vs undefeated AFA game.
