1. NIL
2. Portal
3. Cut block changes

Last night showed that while we can definitely compete against group of 5 teams, these 3 things give us zero/zip/nada chance versus a top 25 level team. Having us ranked 16 surrounded by teams like Ole Miss is just pandering

Army Oklahoma 2018 may well be the year 1951. Its a completely different sport now at the highest levels

IDK, those things are definitely factors but then again there were 7 top 25 teams that lost last night. And some of them to not good teams, see Texas A&M and Alabama. Bama didn't even score a touchdown. Colorado who has leveraged NIL and Portal more than maybe any team got beat by an unranked, but healthy, Kansas squad.

Sometimes I think you just take an ass whooping. ND was ready and played fast. I think we were flat and maybe overconfident due to the schedule we've played and when we got hit in the mouth didn't have much of a plan. Unfortunately looked very similar to Syracuse in '96 where we played a team with way more talent and something to prove to people.

But in the end we will see. UTSA won't be easy and Tulane is a really good team too. So these next two weeks are going to really tell the tale on this team to see if they are for real or pretenders.

I don't disagree that the P4 teams are clearly better than we are but then again you don't know that until you play someone. Same can be said for Notre Dame. Or Indiana for that matter. Which is why you play the games. I'm hopeful this team can reset and get re grounded on this loss and use it to finish the rest of the season. But we will see. Tulane will tell us a lot, Navy will be a challenge, and I would think we get a pretty strong bowl opponent. So lots of football left to define this year's squad.

Agree on all the upsets but those upsets were all by teams not impacted by 1,2 or 3 above.

You are going to see a unicorn game (like northern illinois vs nd this year) but they’ll now be truly unicorn games. We had no shot yesterday from the first play of the game.

IDK, at the end of the day there is only so much talent to go around. We were clearly at a talent deficit last night and our game plan and scheme did little to help that.

ND had I think 18 or 19 guys lost to the portal too. There most significant add is Riley Leonard. Those two running backs Price and Love are organic recruits for them. Would love to know how much NIL those two get because they are worth it and maybe should get more!

Money and opportunity are one thing but college football is still a game of development and execution and both those take coaching. I hate Notre Dame but I can tell they are well coached and getting better each week. So that says a lot. There are plenty of P4 teams with access to NIL money and the Portal that continue to struggle. But I wouldn't disagree that it has begun to level the playing field for many teams which is good for the game overall I think. For Army I fear we might have peaked but only the next few weeks will really tell us that or not.

Another factor is when in the season we play them. ND has improved significantly through the year and is just peaking. If we play the ND team that played Navy, perhaps we see something different.
