Army Remains Ranked in Polls

Army is ranked 25 in AP and 22 in the coaches poll after the ND loss. Boise State and Tulane and Memphis are the only other G5 teams ranked (Memphis is ranked only in the Coaches poll at 23.

Army is currently the #3 ranked G5 team behind Boise State and Tulane and could make the CFP with a win over Tulane and a BSU loss to either Oregon State or UNLV in the MW championship game.

Net, despite the disappointment last night, Army could easily end the season with the highest ranking in a long time.

The key is not to let Notre Dame beat us twice (like Navy did) and beat UTSA next week.

I wasn't expecting Army to remain ranked, so I was pleasantly surprised today. A good sign of respect for the team. As the game went on last night, I was thinking (hoping?) that getting punched in the face would be effective in refocusing the team in this final stretch and get them hungry again. Beat UTSA!

If Army is the 25th best team in the country, I’m Abraham Lincoln

Does this mean that if both Army and Tulane win this weekend and maintain present ranking in the polls that the AAC championship game is in New Orleans?

Yes, big implications for the Tulane/Memphis game on Thanksgiving night. Though Tulane is favored by 10+ Memphis has been solid since their surprising loss to Navy. IF the Green Wave loses and Army takes care of business this Saturday at home against UTSA, the AAC conference game will be played at Michie on a chilly Friday night (8:00 game time).

I like our guys chances against Tulane a lot more in that setting than in New Orleans....

Definitely hoping for a Tulane stumble on Thanksgiving. Although I may be regretting that decision if I settle into my freezing metal seat 4 hours after the sun goes down on December 6th.

It would definitely be a different environment for a game at Michie. Usually the only night games are Labor Day weekend when its warm and still daylight until 8:15. And those are usually 6PM kickoffs. All of the tailgating, pre-game festivities, etc. happening in the cold and dark would be really different and cool (literally and figuratively).

Army is out of the CFB rankings. 3 G5 teams are included: Boise State (11), Tulane (17), and UNLV (22). Notre Dame moves up one spot to 5.

With this result, it is highly unlikely for Army to make the CFP. Disappointing but not surprising.

One thing to note: it’s not the highest rank G5 team that gets in, it’s the highest ranked G5 team thst wins their conference. So it doesn’t matter how high Boise climbs, if they lose the Mountsin West Championship Game, no playoff for them (at least not in place of a G5 team).
