In my opinion the 3 most likely scenarios for the next coach would be. In no particular order. I am assuming Woody and most of the defensive staff leave with Monken.
-Elevate Worley to head coach. He may not be ready but he could probably keep most of the offensive staff together.
-Hire Brian Bohannon. He is available after leaving Kennesaw State this year. Worley coached under him so there would be some continuity there. This would make the Army-Navy game the Kennesaw State reunion with Newberry at Navy.
-Hire Jay Bateman the current D coordinator at A&M and our old D coordinator. He could rebuild the defensive staff and is familiar with some of the coaches on staff. Would he want to keep Worley? Bring back Davis or somebody else to run the offense.
Any other thoughts or candidates? Hopefully Monken stays. The only failure of the Monken era in my opinion is that over the course of 11 years an heir apparent was never developed.
If Monken leaves…

Elevate Woody to HC is another obvious option and keep the current OC. Sure JM may want to bring Woody to WF or wherever he lands but the top gig @ WP and the $2+ million that comes with it has to beat a DC job at an ACC team that their departing coach fears cannot compete in the new NIL/transfer portal world.

I am working under the assumption that Viti has actually been groomed these last few years to take over
I think Army announces him as soon as HR policies allow
Bohannon and Bateman would be great.
In previous searches it was rumored that monken was only taking woody, maybe 1-2 other staff, but would leave the offensive staff

Viti is a cool story because he is a grad but I wouldn’t want to roll the dice on him. He should have coached elesewhere for a little while to broaden his experience and coaching skill set. Viti has been an offensive assistant for Monken for almost a decade, but they promoted Worley to offensive coordinator last year instead and assigned Drinkal to help coach Vitis offensive line after they had a bad year. Maybe he would make a better HC than coordinator, but my concern would be that we would be making someone with a ceiling of position coach the head coach.
