Army and Navy have asked to play 13 regular season games so they can have a 12-game resume for the CFP without the Army-Navy game.

I get the logic, but this would have us playing up to 15 games 13+ AAC Championship + Bowl). Don’t get me wrong, I would love to watch more Army games, but it seemed to me that our guys were done by the end of this season. Sluggish vs. Navy and workmanlike in the bowl game (but not at their best).

Any insights/thoughts?

This idea is 10x stupider than joining the AAC. Just move the friggin game AND count it as a league game

I'm sure money is driving this...the big payout for the A-N game when it's the sole game being played the 2nd weekend of December.

But the money isn't going to be the same in the next contract in the near future...the CFP is likely to expand and even more likely to move a round of playoff games a week earlier. Either thing will mean A-N is competing against playoff games, and will therefore be less valuable monetarily and will also not have all the attention.

They need to go ahead and accept the reality of the new college football landscape, move the A-N game to "rivalry week" as the last regular season game...and get over it. There will be a network that will pay to still host it that weekend, and there are multiple days from Thanksgiving, to the Friday and Saturday afterward to find a good slot for the A-N game. Heck, they could schedule it for Wednesday night before Thanksgiving as a way to "kickoff" the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and it wouldn't even have that much of an impact on the holiday for the academy's academic schedules.

Depth is always a challenge for Army and Navy...adding a 13th regular season game just makes that more of an issue. A 13th game means more opportunities for injuries, etc.
