Army plebe Johnny Crush (great name!) made the finals for 100 backstroke yesterday. First time an Army swimmer made the "A finals" (top 8 qualifiers in prelims) since 1987, which qualifies him as an All-American.
My buddy who follows swimming said he was a big recruit coming out of HS. He placed 8th in the finals, but his competitors were all upperclassmen, so the future looks very bright for him.
