Stanford job
As someone who is sick of Monken trying to leave, and feels that Monken's job chatter directly impacted our performance versus Navy in December...I think the stanford job just might be the one that gets him.

Re: Stanford job
It would make some sense, though I think KN would be a better option for them as he has demonstrated some success outside of SA football and his team led the MW conference in passing.
I have to agree that all the talk is getting old.

Re: Stanford job
I am sick over this talk of him leaving. If Monken tries to bring in the TO any place else, he will be booed out of the stadium when their first blowout game of his first season.
The only reason why he has been so successful is the fact that nobody else runs the TO the way he does. Only his ego to move is just to say he made it to a power 4 conference. Big deal. Hell, a team like Ohio State would still blow him away and he would be gone in a couple years. Then what would he do? Retire as a coach??
Stay at WP for his career and build his legacy like Blaik did. He could even break Blaik W/L record. Maybe someday they might change the field name to BLAIK-MONKEN FIELD.
My opinion.

Re: Stanford job
Stewart Mandel at The Athletic says either JM or Coach Ken are Stanford's best options but he doesn't go so far as to say he has inside dope that either are on Andrew Luck's (Stanford's General Manager) short list.
Part of Mandel's logic is that unlike Power 5 coaches, a Group of Five coach (like JM or KN) will have no problem with jumping into a program less than 6 months before the FB season starts because the opportunity would be such an upgrade.
What do I know, but it remains hard for me to see a Stanford taking a risk on a life long option coach (despite JM's protests that he'd be good with running a passing offense). As others have noted, big are the stones of an Athletic Director (or now GM) pulling the trigger on that type of hire for a Power 5 job.

Re: Stanford job
if Coach Monken is no longer satisfied at Army, then he needs to do the right thing and leave.
