Its true. We also are losing a starting DB
I cant blame the kid. He’s likely getting $1m in NiL and will still get a degree from a darn good school. Plus have better shot at the NFL. I’d probably have done the same

Congrats to him. If he plays, he will get a shot at the NFL ... probably on the Eagles D!

Donovan Platt also gone and Josh Scovens gone from basketball team. Tough competiting against the Transfer Portal and NIL money.

Hate to lose Modozie too. But will have to wait and see how he works out. Clearly has the body type and has film to prove he can play. But this is a massive step up in all around talent. I hope he does well. However he had one offer out of HS and was a Wide Receiver. That doesn't mean much other than the fact that things are moving really really fast for him. I'd be shocked if he got $1M to go. With a.$20.5M dollar cap coming this fall for payouts to all NCAA athletes $1M is a prized sum. In fact if I had to guess UGA may have gotten him on the cheap. But I'm sure there is real money that's offered that is probably hard to turn down as a young person and coming from Army. As far as the quality of the degree from UGA it isn't anywhere close. UGA can be tough to get in to but is nothing that carries significant weight by itself like a USMA diploma. But he's not going for the degree. He's going because it is as elite as you can get from a college football standpoint. If anyone can maximize his raw talent it's Kirby and staff.
I'm hoping he can start and be an impact player. I think it would be a heck of a recruiting tool for us. As much as I want guys to stay that's out of our control. What I do hope for is that we can take our recruiting to a higher level with all these changes and while we might lose guys every year I hope that we can start to stack more and more talent where replacing guys becomes easier and easier. Especially with the utilization of the prep school.

Money means more than patriotism.
It is nothing new at the Point. Ask Benedict Arnold.
There are very few like the American POWs on the British Prison Ships that picked the cause over enlistment in England's ranks.
Welcome to the new CFB world. Most men are mercenaries. Even America's best and brightest.

Re: If true, this hurts.
To clarify, I was indicating $500k for 2 years. And, it is my understanding that while the colleges have to revenue share the 20.5, there is still NIL after that.prideandream wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 8:42 am Hate to lose Modozie too. Re: If true, this hurts.
i am assuming this is a joke about Georgia's academics but, for some facts, the average ACT of an admitted georgia student is 29. West Point is 30. Georgia is a very, very good public state college.

Re: If true, this hurts.
UGA has certainly come a long way since I was a freshman there in 1968. Even a slacker like me - who was rejected by almost every other school I applied to - was able to get in strictly on the basis of SAT scores. Even that modest achievement was due to the math part of the exam. The state lottery which gave free tuition to top in-staters helped raise the bar considerably.
One thing I bet hasn’t changed is that I used to see a lot of very large guys in the classroom first day of class and never saw them again. I’d be surprised if the old “22 legs and no diploma” jokes are a thing of the past.
