2-0 in the conference to begin with Rab. Also before this year, since at least the 1960’s Army has had less than zero chance of even sniffing another National Championship. A pure and absolute pipe dream.

With joining the AAC the same year the CFP goes to a 12 team format, it is now actually a statistical possibility. The 5th slot goes to the highest ranked G-5 conference champion. The ESPN CFP Predictor currently has Army at a 7.1% probability of making the playoffs.

That is what they are doing, fact. Maybe you could consider enjoying the ride for once.

For anyone who didn't read the actual link (perhaps more interested in pivoting to familiar grievances?) this was just a 2-game series- 1 at West Point in 2020, which didn't happen because of COVID, and one in Utah IN 2032! So hardly a major schedule disruption.

So, what do you WANT our schedule to look like? You don't like that we play league games against teams like Tulsa or South Florida. You don't want us to play any big-name teams (this year it's Notre Dame but you've been critical of the Oklahoma, LSU, Ohio State, and Michigan games in prior years). You also were critical in the past of the teams we scheduled at home, saying they didn't bring in any visiting fans. But you say you want a national schedule. What does it look like? Take AF and Navy out of it, and tell me what your ideal other 10 games would look like. Not what it was in the '40's, or whatever. But now, current college football landscape, playing as an Independent. Keep in mind most teams that are in a conference, which is pretty much everybody, only have 3 to 4 non-Conference games a year to schedule, and that most Power 5 conference teams are going to schedule AT MOST 2 Non-conference road games, more likely 1.

You will find that Rabble, while an incredibly dedicated, life long, and "true blue" Army fan is incapable of A. Enjoying what we have and B. not complaining that everything new is horrible.

I've done my best to appreciate his love of the team, if not those in charge of the institution. The fact that our schedule in the AAC will resemble our recent schedule as an independent (Remember Troy, UTSA and Louisiana Monroe......that was last year) seems to be immaterial. Perhaps I've mellowed as I age, but I wonder if there is a point where I will start to un-mellow. I don't look forward to that.

Yes, I'm old but for the nearly 8 decade fan of West Point and its sports program, I still feel that no one, nowhere should dictate to the greatest leadership school in the country, who and when to play at any time. This conference has severely restricted that ability. I prefer a schedule something like this as an independent-
Villanova
Boston College
BYU
Duke
Ohio University
Pittsburgh
New Mexico State
Northwestern
California
James Madison
Air Force
Navy

Competitive and truly national in scope representing all sections of the country.
Maybe not a playoff possibility here but so what. Even if we were a 12th seed team in the playoff, who would we face? Ohio State, Georgia, Texas, Alabama as the number 1 seed??? ha, ha.
Wake up some of you guys, with a dose of reality. This is not 1945 anymore.
Yes, I will stick with the CIC competition and be happy with that.

Just to be in a national playoff if you get blistered 50-0. No recruitment from that. Just laughter.

At least USMA calls their own shots and the way it SHOULD be, instead of a regional schedule with no ability to REALLY recruit nationally.

AND a Thursday night game!! Ridiculous. It affects a cade't's routine of classwork, study and even practice time.

It's all about the MONEY, honey, isn't it?

AND they say it is easier to schedule when you play the same damn teams every year. So, what does Buddie and his associates do in their spare time? Probably play darts in the office pool.

I always acknowledge your life long and "Rab"id (see what I did there) fandom.

But I just disagree with you that the schedule you desire would be available to us. With a 12 team playoff, the power four will continue to focus on playing other power four teams, even the weaker ones that we could be competitive with. Longing for what was and pining over unrequited scheduling wishes is, to me, incredibly unrewarding.

A classmate of mine is AD Buddies 2IC and I can assure you that there is plenty to keep the AD busy outside of football scheduling. If you were not aware, we have, I believe, men's and women's rugby sides that have won national collegiate championships, and both the women's and men's lacrosse teams were highly ranked in the last year (The men were ranked #1 for a couple of weeks). Apologies to those successful teams that I have missed.

While I can get just as frustrated as anyone on gameday, I try to appreciate and be grateful for what we have as an institution and live in the moment as opposed to live in the admittedly glorious history of the Army Team. The cadets of today deserve no less.

Of course our cadets deserve the best. You can not disagree with that.
Someone on yhe board asked me to schedule what I thought would be a great NATIONAL schedule. So I did it. I know full well in todays football world, you could never ever have done that today.That is what makes me sad and frustrated. It is not only the money in the game but is the BETTING on the game.
Years ago, I saved ALL the ore-season annuals with great interest.They were chock full of information. Around the 15thh of July, they would begin and for a happy month or so full, I would read each team religiously.
Today, it' is all internet mostly filled with junk writeups with the majority of them being ads for bet pools.
I do not bet. For those who do, go for it. Make a million or lose a million. I do not care. I did not work hard for 6 of my 8 decades to blow it away on players barely out of their teens.
This is what college football has become. Players being paid for their image , likeness and supposed talent. Move to another school because the guy ahead of you, a class ahead of you, you can switch to another institution because he feels he can get a better "deal and never sitting out a year". Football has become a semi-pro sport. Nothing wrong with pro football. It's great. The players are way overpaid with exorbitant salaries though, driving up massively the price of a ticket and with the same situation with uncontrollable gambling.
A fan would ask, "Who will win the game today? Today's first question is, "What is the spread?" It cheapens the very reputation of the sport we all love. Fans gather today more interested in how much will I make with my team? instead of will my team WIN today?

Sure, I live in the past where the college game was played by students simply because of the love of the game. I enjoyed that very much. I respected the game more than today. It's understandable for a guy my age. there is something to be said about the game in, let's say the 1950 s watching the game on your black and white snowy tv screen, the field covered in mud, uniforms so dirty you could not see the numbers on them and a guy like announcer Mel Allen saying, "HOW ABOUT THAT?" describing a great play instead of talking about the most minute detail that most of the common man does not even care or worry about. Those players even had off-season jobs.

Yes, players are way overpaid today, playing on artificial turf, with nary a spot on their uniforms, or a tooth broken behind their face masks or eye visors. This has filtered down to the college game and to some extent even some prestigious stadiums that are built for more than 20,000 fans at the high school level.

Positively, I am old school because I am an old guy but I must say that I think there is something in the old days, the 40's, 50's and the 60's that one takes the time to appreciate thru film and books.
