Article on Return to Flexbone

Post by WrekDivr »

I thought this article was insightful, particularly a couple of lines about how CW made halftime adjustments vs. Coastal Carolina last year. Many have commented on how well Army has adjusted this year and, in this example, CW actually added new plays during halftime based on what he saw in the first half.

Great article, reveals how honest JM and the other coaches are in admitting the mistakes in the "temporary" offense of 2023 and how that experience helped shape the current and so far successful offense.

Thanks for posting it.

The national press coverage of the Army Team this year is unprecedented in my lifetime. Check out this one in Sports Illustrated https://www.si.com/college-football/an- ... in-america

Army should have made more of an effort to keep Thatcher on the staff. We are using his blocking scheme and his offense is still being used to an extent. Worley should definitely be the lead and calling plays but offering Thatcher a ceremonial “co-offensive coordinator” title and having him as a resource to work with the offense would have been nice. He could have given Worley ideas about what could work out of the gun based on what the defense is showing during games. Offering him the H back coaching job seemed like an insult. What is he doing now? Coaching high school or D3? I doubt he had any better options but it seems like we demeaned the guy with that offer and gave him no choice but to leave.
