Why?
Why did we have to play Notre Dame in the first place and lose 49-14?
Why did we have to play LSU last year and lose 62-0?
Why do we have to play any team in the Top 20 in the country?
Why do we play an out of reach game every season?
Why don't we play reasonable and realistic teams thought the season?
Why did Monken play Dailey when the game was completely out of reach?
Why are we sacrificing this season by playing our best players in a useless game of futility?
Why do you think we could make a 12-team national playoff when we haven't really beaten anyone in the top
10 since I was a little boy, 80 some years ago?
Why does the administration take the stance of scheduling any opponent we have literally no chance of winning?
Why would anyone take the position on all these podcasts of declaring Army the winner? Everyone did predict Army to win--EVERYONE!! Where is the common sense of reality here?
We had no chance of winning from the beginning. ND is bigger, stronger, more talented, semi-professional accepting NIL money and a chance to move anywhere at any time to their own choosing.
Why does not the Army schedulers realize this?
Is it money?
Is it ego?
Army must schedule within its own realm or we will continue to get scores like 62-0 and 49-14 year after year. After being an Army fan my entire life of nearly 8 decades, I am just tired and sick of it all.
Back in the 1940's and 50's and 60's, the school prided itself to being undefeated as we once were a long time ago. I was part of that but today, something got in the way and to me it has become a sad experience for me personally for the utter embarrassment the program has bought especially on a national TV audience.
We still remain a laughingstock to many citizens of this country to the academy and the US Army which should never, ever be made to be like this.
We must be better than this. If you want to fight the best, BE THE BEST!!!
For this I close this post as I am a very sad man tonight.
"I WILL LIE DOWN AND BLEED AHWILE AND RISE TO FIGHT AGAIN!!!"
I will never see Army beat Notre Dame again in my lifetime and to me that really is a tough one to take.

Re: Why?
How can you be the best if you don’t even try to compete with the best??
The difference in skill and talent was obvious from the first series. But that doesn’t mean we should run away and never play these teams.

Re: Why?
Why? To measure.
Congratulations to Notre Dame. They dominated a very good physical football team and deserved the victory. Notre Dame is a legitimate national contender and Army is a very good team but not in the elite level.

Re: Why?
To answer Rabble in particular: your rant has at best 1 or 2 points buried in the (excuse the pun) rabble. We should periodically schedule Top 10 teams, and absolutely should schedule what we anticipate will be top 20-25 team annually. We also should try to schedule them early or mid-season, before they hit their full stride. Since their peak performance will be higher than ours (ignoring the injury variable for both teams) time to develop during the season greatly favors them. My problem is Notre Dame. Their arrogance pisses me off, and us bowing to it every time pisses me off too. The fact that they refuse to play us at Michie, and that we go to to Yankee Stadium so they can have all of that Four Horseman BS lit up above Monument Park screams “in your face bitch, we had our way with you than, and we’re still doing it.”. So yeah, buried in your rant was “for the money” and that was correct. I realize these games are scheduled multiple years in advance. But, I wouldn’t play Notre Dame again, until they play us at Michie - maybe with the new East Stands. Time to claw back some dignity.

Re: Why?
Maybe they should just go the Athletic Department at Northern Illinois and ask for the ingredients to their magic sauce. They obviously know something the rest of us don't.

Re: Why?
I also think that "laughingstock" is a bit over the top ... this isn't the 1940s anymore, and we are not getting 4 and 5 star players. Losing to ND does not make us a joke of a program.
I was optimistic that it would be a good game, but that feeling went away after the first 3 and out ... you could just see the differences in programs. And that's not a bad thing ... we aren't trying to get NFL caliber players. But this does show that although the AAC is not a good conference, it's probably the right place for Army and Navy right now.
Last point - sure it was about the money. Why did UMass play UGA? For a big payday. Rab, unless you want to pony up and pay the coaches, just recognize that this is what modern college football is all about. Again, we're not in the 40's, 50's, or even 90's anymore.
Actually, a real last point - now I know why I don't watch NBC ... the broadcasters are homers for ND. I realize that's NBC is ND's station, but it would have been nice to not have to have the broadcasters slobbering all over ND all the time.
Beat Em!

Re: Why?
The Northern Illinois IQ level is probably no where near our teams, and daily routine is most likely a wee bit more football/PO Gym emphasized. Also I will bet the corps had a brutal week with exams etc before the holiday weekend. I have seen it too many times before the so-called Thayer weeks. Perhaps someone with more connections than me can ask around.
